Peaces of me...

I heard Brent leave after 1am last night and he was on his way to meet up with Christie. Even if Brent isn't going out with her I am glad he has her from a diversion from Crystal. It is making life a lot easier on him.

I took Stacy to the Dr. and he said because her blood pressure is so low and her heart beat, she doesn't sweat so her body doesn't know when it needs water. She has to more salt intake and water. She also has a virus. Hopefully her headaches will go away soon.

James came home one day early so he was able to coach Monica's game. Stacy and Jessie came to Monica's game tonight, which was a nice surprise.

After the game Stacy and I went to Jessie's Lacrosse game and her old cross country coach is one of his coaches. Jessie came over and put his arm around Stacy and he told him that he saw her first and that she was his! He seemed pleased about Stacy's involvement with the Rec Centre. He told me that Holly beat a track record but that can’t be because Monica beat her. I hope they didn't get them mixed up again.

Coincidently, I bought four bobble head hockey players yesterday and when I came back from Jessie's game there were eleven bobble heads on the piano and not one duplicate. James had bought them in Ottawa and we hadn't even talked about getting them. Strange eh?

Crystal is phoning again but Brent is out. He says that he doesn't want to go out with her anymore, that he stopped missing her. If she had tried earlier in the month to get back with him he probably would have but he has learned how to get along without her. He also says that she is threatening to do away with herself, and to smash the car. I hope she is all right.

Monica gets to join the school baseball team because the grade 7's are going on a trip that day. The baseball coach says that Monica must be doing something right for everything to always go her way.

Brent has resigned himself to the fact that he will be going to summer school for English. So much for his teacher saying that Brent will be the smartest kid to ever fail his English.

Stacy and Monica went together to practice pitching at the park.

Olivia came to my door last night and she was upset to hear that the school's most beloved teacher is also leaving. That makes most of the teachers leaving because they don't want to work with the new Principal.

Crystal picked up Brent tonight in her car. I told him that he should talk to her in a place where he knows that he will be safe like our front room but Crystal picked him up and out they went. I didn't want him to be stranded anywhere if she didn't like the way things were going.

After, about an hour later he phoned and said they were in the country driving around, I asked if he was ok and he said he was. I was very worried. Finally, forty minutes after the phone call he came home. Brent said he was concerned about being in the car too, so he stalled with his answer until they were close to home. Then she started to drive away from home and he didn't know what to do. She wanted him back and there were tears, but he said he couldn't. She threatend to drive into a brick was too. Brett said that she could hang around with him and she should contact April, Dianne and me but they wouldn't be going out again. Brent said it was very hard. Later I saw him on the phone, probably with Christie.

Stacy isn't feeling well. She is complaining about a headache and heart pains again. She fainted too, just like slowly falling and getting up real fast very dizzy. I don't know why she would be getting heartburn and I don't really know if the Rolaids works because she doesn't complain very much, just every now and then about the chest pain and lately headaches but her nerves look bad. She feels shaky, just like me. I wonder if she is eating too much chocolate? It doesn’t seem to make her go 'blind' anymore and I notice her eating more often.

I claim the right of Edwards rule of acquisition when something is left at my computer desk and on July 28th I found it so I am adding it to my diary. It is a letter from Crystal

Dear Brent,

I am sorry for everything that I have put you through. You are a fantastic sweet loving person and you didn't deserve it. But it wasn't done on purpose, I just needed to get away all of a sudden. I have never been so lonely in my life. I cry every night. I never actually went out with that guy. We went on a couple of dates. Like I told you. I miss you and could never say sorry enough times. I never stopped loving you. I just turned off my heart for a while you were still in it I just wasn't listening. It was the only way I knew to find myself.

I always tell people that I overcame everything that I went through as a child it is not until adulthood that I realize this is very wrong. I develop a coping mechanism where I turn off my heart and all emotions. I am not happy or sad for a while I am just numb and feel nothing but I can only hold it up so long when eventually it all comes flooding back.

I know I deserve what I am feeling now but I thought you should know that nothing happened between that guy and me! I do understand if you are angry with me or if you never want to talk to me again after this. But if you did love me all along then I hope that won't be your decision.

Love always, Crystal (Kwistal)

Brent was on the phone for about 3 hours with Christie last night and around 1:30am, I heard him leave the house. Of course I couldn't sleep and he finally came home after 2:30am. He went for a walk with Christie. I asked him if she had a boyfriend and he said yes, and if they were interested in each other and he said they are just friends. I must look pretty stupid or something. Duhh! It's ok, if he has to rebound, I am glad it is with her and that they have been friends.

James is in Ottawa for the rest of the week.

Crystal has been phoning Brent today, she wants to talk with him and even dropped off a computer part here. Brent said that she just started emailing him asking about Prom and stuff. It is kind of weird to do it all of a sudden when she never tried to contact him before. He did say that he got an email from her that she had written a long time ago but she had sent it to an email address that he hardly ever goes into. So he replied to her email. Someone told me that she doesn't sit with anyone at work, just eats all alone. I feel bad for her, she has a hard time relating sometimes. I was so hoping that she had found a good circle of friends but Brent was told that she has stopped seeing people altogether now. I just hope she isn't all alone. I know that Nadia thinks I am a sucker for her and that she tricked us into getting what she wanted but I still can't help feeling for her. I just can't turn it off.

Monica and Stacy both had games tonight and Leafs are out of the playoffs in overtime. BOO! They came so close Stacy's team didn't do well at all, they are making cheap little mistakes but Stacy pitched very well. Stacy complained about a headache but it didn't seem to affect her game.

Monica's team tied the tier 1 team.

James had his test at the hospital early this morning and then we went to his mom's for breakfast. He hasn't been feeling well all week and when he went to the doctor last he didn't even tell him about the bloating. I wish he did tell because the doctor needs to know all the symptoms.

I think Brent is going to get in trouble at school again. The school phoned and asked April where Brent was, she looked for him and then told them that the last time she saw him he was going to prom! He just got back from the cottage this afternoon. April didn't have a clue where he was and I guess the school figures he is skipping.

Nadia received the wrong Novice schedule so she has the wrong one posted on their web page. Nadia went out with Derrick and had him over late too (got caught in my PJs)

Brent was talking to Christie on the phone pretty late. Christie gave Brent and Prom picture frame with their picture in it, quite nice.

Stacy has been exercising a lot again - stomach crunches. I know she probably has to do a lot because she is already so fit from her spinning classes but she is doing so much around 500.

It was a windy day so it was no fun for baseball. April played against Monica's for from last year. Deanna was the pitcher. I talked to her and introduced myself as Monica's mother but she didn't believe me, she thought that Shannon's mom, "The mom with the big blonde curly hair" was Monica's mom. Shannon's mom used to try and intimidate Deanna. For her to remember her then the mother must have been saying things that bothered Deanna. That is too bad.

We had a stir fry and a huge fruit salad for supper and mom cleaned up after which is nice because no one is cleaning up these days with the exception of Stacy cleaning when Jessie comes over. I wish that someone would help with the laundry, it would be so nice - just once would be nice. Somehow it is my job only.

I wrote Stacy a long letter today. I wanted to talk to her about her relationship with Jessie but she rather I wrote her. In it was basically what I have been telling her all along. To keep up the letter writing and the Internet contact because it is good for them and he expects it. And if she is going to be in a serious relationship not to take anything for granted, to always try communicating both mentally and physically and as long as you know that you have done everything to make the relationship good, then it should grow.

Stacy and Monica are both doing the exercise stuff again, constantly working on their bodies. There isn't an ounce of fat on either of them. They both don't know when to quit though.

Jessie stayed here last night until 12:30. I guess he is putting in an effort to make it more of a give and take. I hope so anyway.

Brad came home at 1:00 am to change and then went to Doober's for a party. He came home at 4:30 am from that. He said that he is very happy that he went with Chrissie, that she was a lot of fun and they laughed all night long. Adam was voted the most crazy male and Dan and Carlie were voted best couple. I burned a copy of the Prom pictures for Chrissie. Brad is going to Steve's cottage in Fenlon Falls until Monday. I hope they drink safe and stay away from the water. Please.

Nadia and I had a good talk today about sex and relationships. First time that I have talked to her about that but she approached me. I am nervous about those talks with her because she tells Derrick everything and I will have trouble looking at him in the eyes. I don't think there is anything about sex that she doesn't already know. She has been reading grown up books since grade 7 whether we wanted her to or not so I believe she has already formed her own moral values. It is strange though I feel the opposite with Stacy. I must talk to Stacy about sex just because she never wanted to know anything, she hid from growing up. Now I have to give her the details of everyday life.

Nadia is very sore after pitching the other night especially since she didn't practice all winter like she does every other year. After she went to the ACC Center with Derrick to watch the leaf game on the Jumbotron. Leafs won so they are still alive!

When we got home from the Hit and run derby, Stacy was not home. We understand that she went to Boston Pizza and then to Coral's.

Monica and April were grounded until they cleaned their room up. Tomorrow they clean under the bed and closet!

I woke up feeling awful, cramps dizziness, more bleeding than I have ever had in my life, it really scared me. My eyes keep blacking out on me so I am trying to take it easy.

Brent's Prom
Today is Prom day so that entitled Brent to take the day off school for some reason. While the girls primp the guys sleep I guess! James and I went out for breakfast but we didn't even realize that he went back to sleep until his friends were looking for him. Needless to say by that time he has to scramble to get ready.

We picked up Chrissie at 4:00 from her house. Thee were a gaggle of girls pouring out her front door to see her off. They were her friends from way back in elementary school so I even knew them, which made it even more of an adventure for me! Everyone was making the gushy faces, remembering back to when they were little and I thought that they would make the cutest couple. She looked so beautiful and happy. James and I took them to the town park for pictures where most of his school were also having their pictures taken. All of his friends and so many others were there for pictures, my shutter bugging ways got the better of me. I have so many of their emails already so I will send them all copies. I loved seeing all the tuxs and the beautiful dresses. They had 2 limos and they went to Scallion in Toronto. Every now and then you could see a parent confiscating some demon alcohol from a disappointed kid but I am sure they will find more somehow! I missed out on Prom since I was too ‘cool’ for Prom when I was at school so this is such a big deal for me, almost on par with weddings!

Stacy had Jessie after 10:00 and it was the first time that she hasn't been hyper about the house being untidy.

Visited mom at Carrie and Marks in the morning. Mom is baby sitting while they are in Las Vegas till Sunday.

Baseball for Monica and Nadia. Nadia got to meet her team mates for the first time. She HIT EVERY TIME, yeah!!!!! Finally!

I had a rude awakening at the game. I was watching the girls in the field throwing the ball to each other before the game and trying to recognize the girls. I noticed one girl and said out loud,
"I wonder who that girl is over there? She must be new."
Unfortunately I pointed out my own daughter, my Nadia. I hadn't realized just how much weight Nadia has put on and it made me scarred to comprehend just how the weight can sneak up on someone when they aren't paying attention. She has to get the weight off now. It is going to be hard because the other kids say that she is always eating some candy or slushy.

I was in the car so much today, everywhere. I was at Mario's twice for Monica and Nadia for hair cuts. Hannah was there and they know that Jessie and Stacy have been having trouble too. It isn't something we should talk about I guess.

After I thought everything was all right Nadia told me that Stacy was thinking of taking a 'Break'. What the hell is that and who thought of something as stupid as going on a break? Someone will go out or be with someone else and someone's feeling are going to get hurt and then they will end up hating each other. Just like the TV show Friends. I hope that they don't even consider a 'break'. Nadia said that she was going to talk to Stacy about it later. Work on the relationship or break up - a break is this generation's stupid idea and it only causes grief.

Caesar got buzzed today and he looks so different, his legs are actually quite skinny! They left him with a gay pompom on his tail. A huge male dog shaved of his pride and left with a degrading pompom? He is embarrassed when people laugh and they sure do laugh!

Brent went out with me to get dress shoes and pants hemmed. Brent doesn't have money for any part of prom night.

Stacy and Jessie celebrated one year anniversary at Don Cherry's. Jessie got her a silver id bracelet engraved 'together forever' and on the other side 'Stacy and Jessie' It was very nice. I think everything is all right between them, I hope so. Stacy gave him the chain necklace.

Stacy has a lot to deal with. It is pretty rocky with Jessie right now.

The elementary ran their Track and Field. Unfortunately, Colleen had to interfere and ruin what should have been a fun day for them. The goal is not to win at all costs but that is how it went. She came over to the triple jump and when Monica jumped she yelled "foot foul" while Monica was still in the air. She argued with the official about it and then insisted that the tape be held way up for measuring. When they looked for Monica's footprint, unfortunately people had tread over it so the official picked a spot but it wasn't the right spot. When Holly jumped, it was basically the same jump and Colleen got mad when Monica corrected where they measured the back foot (they were going to measure the front foot). Colleen approached me about five minutes later "to clear the air". All I said was that I wasn't concerned about Holly's jump but Monica's and she said that they didn't do it properly last year so they were even.

Later on at the standing jump, Monica and Holly were to sit this event out so that other girls would have a chance to take a first place. Monica and Holly were fooling around with there pants pulled down on there hips being gangsta's when Colleen shook them out of their play world, came around and told Holly to pull out of the high jump and do the standing broad so she could get first and beat Monica for the overall. Monica overheard and took exception to it, which I am glad. Holly did get first but the official asked Monica what happened and then insisted that Monica try the standing jump. All three jumps would have been first place. I felt for Holly because she is an innocent in this and it is hard to explain an adult's behaviour, especially when it is her mother who is misbehaving.

Enough of this crap! Colleen is damaging her daughter's friendship with Monica and it is just not worth it. I went to the principal and asked him to talk to the officials about what has been going on between Holly's mom and Monica. If they saw what I saw then for the sake of the girls' friendship, please do not announce the Junior Athlete this year. He couldn't believe that I would suggest it, especially when he was sure that Monica would win. But I said that I didn't want my daughter disillusioned as to what lengths a mother would go to make their daughter win. I would rather they just stay friends than have to compete when her mom was acting like a poor sport. He agreed.

Monica was worried that she wouldn't have competition n the High Jump. She says that she likes the feeling of not knowing whether she will win and that it doesn't feel satisfying if she is a for sure win. But Kate proved to be a good competitor and gave Monica a great run for it and almost beat Monica. Poor Holly sat out with the weight of the world on her shoulders. She just wants to play; she is not competitive like her mom is.

Monica and Holly tied the gruelling 1500-meter and after Monica looked like she was gasping for air, having an asthma attack. April's teacher took Monica aside and I thought they gave her the puffer but later the teacher concluded that Monica wasn't having an asthma attack, rather she was hyperventilating. She wouldn't let Monica have her puffer. Thank you Dr. teacher. How dare her jeopardize Monica's health.

Stacy went to school this morning but phoned at lunch to come home. James picked her up while I was with Brent, driving him to school to pay for his Prom tickets and get his yearbook. James and I stopped in the road so Brent could get money from James. My heart went out to Stacy when I saw her drive by because she was in tears and if anyone knows anything about Stacy is that she rarely cries. I have only seen her cry a handful of times in her life so she is pretty heartbroken right now. Shannon told her side of the story. The email was sent to her too so Shannon knew Stacy knew. Jessie really didn't say anything to her, ignored the whole situation. I bet he is just as overwhelmed as she is.

Jessie phoned even before school ended and he was coming over right after co-op. We left them alone downstairs and after a while we heard a noise so we muted the television. We couldn't believe our ears. There was Stacy singing to the top of her lungs with Jessie there. Only family has never heard her sing.

Brent phoned me last night at 4:30am to say he was staying at Adam's so even though it was so late, he is listening to me.

We dropped in to Steven and Lana's for a bit and it looks like their little Chiwawa wants to eat my huge Caesar for supper!

I thought about what happened with Stacy and Jessie with that girl last night and I think that Stacy has to make decision right now. Either put 100% into it even if it means sacrificing some homework time or break it up right now.

You see Jessie has always been used to having Stacy on the Internet and the time that he hasn't the Mel thing happened last year. He sounds lonely to me and I am only excusing his behaviour because he is so young but I told Stacy that she should try to get on the internet with him at least a couple of times a day and if he is not there she should leave him little messages. If she is not on with him, then someone else probably is. Maybe that will help him not pay other girls any attention. I don't know. I hope I am right.

Stacy went out with Jessie and had a good time only to come home to an email to Stacy. It was to and from Shannon and in it Jessie was urging her to communicate with him, reminiscing about the "sexual notes" they used to send a long time ago. She basically said that she didn't want to get in between what Stacy and Jessie had. Poor Stacy. What are you doing Jessie?

Nadia walked the dog for two hours while James, Stacy and I went to Gramma's for breakfast. Nadia had her girlfriends over to watch the hockey game, and we lost in overtime. Then Nadia and I spent the evening snuggled up to watch The Practice finale. It was nice to have her with me.

April had her Novice Select game with the other select team. It was close for a while but the other team had one really good inning.

While I was there someone told me that their daughter was at Jessie's last night so that means he had girls and guys at his house, but made sure Stacy wasn't there. Stacy went to Jessie's tonight. His mom phoned her twice to get her to come over and when Stacy was on the phone with her wondering what to do, I tried to convince Stacy to talk to Jessie's mom about what is happening but she felt too uncomfortable. I wonder if Hannah knows there is a problem and that is why she phoned?

I don't know if Stacy has figured it out but he wants and needs to get out with the boys and that is good, only one problem. Every time it happens he finds some way to leave Stacy stranded at home, so that she is not near any people and doesn't have plans for the evening. I guess it is his way of making sure that no other guys are around her. What he doesn't realize that a lot of the time there are more guys at our house (Brent's friends) than if she were to go out with other people like last night.

They had it out at his place but she doesn't think it changed much because when they were going home from some party he insisted on driving the girl that he kissed last week home even though she had arranged a ride with someone else. Stacy didn't like that at all.

Stacy told him that he didn't have to go out with her anymore, said there relationship is not healthy, and that she is making her own plans now and will go out with her friends whenever she feels like it.

Monica had Sam overnight and we told them to go out and watch the fireworks while we watched them from our bedroom window. They came back in and at around 11 they tried to leave our house again to watch fireworks?? We hauled them back in.

April played manhunt with her friends and I picked them up a little after ten. I was going to drive them all home but April was the only one to come home when she was supposed to. I was proud of her.

May 18/02

Another cold unspring day. While James and I were getting ready to go to Gramma's for breakfast, Monica remembered that she has a softball practice. James had to run the practice and unfortunately has a bad back again so he flaked out in bed and slept most of the afternoon.

Brent went out with the boys and I think he spent most of the evening looking for booze. Eventually someone bought them some. They ended up only having two drinks each, which was what I was after them to do. Some of the guys ended up staying overnight.

April didn't report in and Jen's father phoned at 11 looking for Tara. He was very frustrated with Tara because she hadn't checked in since 6. I found her outside in our neighbourhood for him but even then he didn't get her home when he was so upset. I called April in for not telling me where she was but Jen got nothing. Where is the consistency?

Nadia was in and out with Derrick all evening.

Stacy waited for a call from Jessie, the one he told her to wait for, got none so she phoned him twice and he decided to stay out with the boys. That would be all right if he gave her any advance warning but he left her hanging again. It's as if he wants to make sure she is stranded at home so that no other guys will be able to talk to her. I think they are in trouble. She found out that Jessie went to a party last night, says he tried to phone her but no, I don't think so - call display - and we were home. She went out with Melissa, Coral and Amy and came home around 1. She is very unhappy.

Hurdle meet today and Monica had a great day. First she finally won the battle of the tampon! In every race, heats and finals, she placed first and she was 8/100 second off the track record for the short distance and we thought that she broke the long distance record but they never announced it.

Holly fell in her heat after the first hurdle and got up and ran to win her heat! Monica's cross country coach saw Holly fall and thought that it was Monica and yelled "she a tough cookie, just like her mom and there is her mom right there" and pointed to me. I was going to say different but they look so much the same that I took the compliment. Monica might have beaten the long distance hurdle track record, Holly's mom Colleen thinks so.

Monica and April both went to the dance tonight. Monica is recognizing the fact that Cory is a homebody and I think is frustrated over it. It is alright with me because of all the boys she hangs out with (and there are a lot) she sees him the least so there is not much pressure on them going out. It works out just find I tell ya cos she is still too young for that stuff.

Stacy stayed in, after she worked, tried to phone Jake because she is so bored but got no answer, she didn't hear from Jessie. I wonder if they are all right?

Monica was told that Aprils teacher will not be coaching Volleyball next school year!

As soon as the rain cleared up after school Monica was out with all the boys. A lot of the time she is the only girl but she is doing what she loves best, playing sports!

James has not been feeling well and is spending a lot of time up in our bedroom. His stomach is so bloated that it is rock hard. Poor guy.

May 15/02

I did something very pissy today. I took advantage of a situation that was handed to me on a silver platter. I feel good about it too! There have been rumours that Monica will be leaving her school for a more competitive school. Truth be told, I would transfer her in a heartbeat, but she wants to stay with her friends.

The coach of next years basketball team addressed the rumour and told me the only reason that he wants to be at this school next year is that he wants a chance to coach Monica. He feels that he can build a team around an athlete like Monica, one who is constantly giving of herself to teach others. Wow! He asked if there was any way we would reconsider staying at this school, and what would it take to keep her here. I was going to deny the rumour, instead I told him that I was not happy having April's ill tempered teacher being the volleyball coach as she was scheduled to be and we would be very pleased if someone else coached volleyball. He said that without Monica they wouldn't have any sports team and with her he could almost guarantee the championship by the time she is in grade eight. So I reiterated that I did not want the poor excuse for a teacher coaching volleyball in the next school year. I didn't actually say that she was a poor excuse but he got my meaning. He said consider it done!

Brent invited me to Lacrosse. It is an interesting game a lot like hockey. The Doobie Brothers and Doober play. I guess they enjoy smoking the other team. They enjoy smoking other things.

Brandon Alexio's mother told me that she thought that Serina has been with another guy but Brandon can't see it because he trusts her so much. She found a picture of a guy named Allan and Serina holding each other after Serina had borrowed their vehicle. Also, she is out with this guy a lot.

Marita's condition called antiphospholipid check at www.edae.gr/ antiphospholipid.html
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is the name given to a disease, which involves the immune system. Normally antibodies are good and they help fight germs or viral infections from outside, however, occasionally the immune system makes the wrong kind - a type that acts against the body itself. These unusual auto-antibodies in APS are detected by a blood test and when they are present make a person more likely to get specific problems.

The antibody, known as the antiphospholipid antibody (APL), is one of a class of antibodies referred to as auto-antibodies. Common to autoimmune diseases, auto-antibodies are proteins produced by the body to attack itself, rather than invading viruses and bacteria. APL is made to fight certain good body fats called lipids. When the level of APL is high and these proteins float freely throughout the blood, a disease state occurs. The antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) is associated with recurrent clotting events (thrombosis) including premature stroke, repeated miscarriages, phlebitis, venous thrombosis (clot in the vein) and pulmonary thromboembolism (blockage of an artery found in the lung due to a clot that has traveled from a vein). It is also associated with low platelet or blood elements that prevent bleeding.
Recently, however, even more disease states have been linked with APL including premature heart attack, migraine headaches, various cardiac valvular abnormalities, skin lesions, diseases that mimic multiple sclerosis, vascular diseases of the eye that can lead to visual loss and blindness, and early peripheral vascular disease that can result in amputations of the extremities and digits.

However, not all APS patients develop lupus. The tendency to have autoimmune disorders is inherited, but APS is not necessarily inherited. It is anticipated that continuing research will reveal more about the disease and lead to a greater understanding of all aspects of APS.

Gramma went to Brothers with us for lunch. All our baseball games have been cancelled again. This cold rain can get depressing.

Marita and Dave went to dinner with us. Marita spent time with her doctor again, it is so confusing but it really looks like she will need an operation. The doctor the other day said no, and she basically was left with the feeling that they just expected her to die. I hate it when they just leave her hanging, wondering what to do. They got their camper today and Brent and Josh slept in it. The camper is soooo nice.

The Leafs beat the Senators tonight to end this series and we had a lot of kids celebrating in our house Monica and April's friends dressed in leaf gear are outside by the main road holding up signs, getting the cars to honk for the Leafs.

Derrick handed in his resignation for his job. They never even ever gave him a raise even though he was there for a year1/2. He works everyday building his muscles doing landscaping now.

EMAIL to Crystal

Crystal, it has taken me some time to write to you because a lot has been going on here. I also had to put some thought into what I am going to write to you because you did ask me for my thoughts.

I was disillusioned that you felt that you had to defend yourself in case Brent lied, because if there is anything good that you ever remember about Brent is that he is honest, his honestly had never been in question, even when he was little. Brent doesn't even say anything bad about you at all and he doesn't talk about your relationship with his friends or acquaintances.

The incident at the night club is a known fact so people have come up to him and talked about that. He never said anything bad at all about the guy you were with. As a matter of fact when he told the guy that you had only broken up four days earlier, the guy you were with said that he was sorry he didn't know. Brent thought that was pretty decent. His friend that interfered, he compared his build to that of someone we all know, he never made him into something he wasn't.

When I first saw your email I just assumed that you had typing mistakes in your email because you had written that you and Brent had been broken up for four weeks. After rereading it I think that you actually meant it. It has now just been four weeks. I know that you are used to keeping a diary all these past years and that because you have spent so much time here you haven't kept it up to date. I can help you there. If you want my recollection of your life these past 10 months I will copy them for you even though they are biased (my version). I always had a soft spot for you so there was nothing too bad.

The morning of April 12th is when I came to your house to visit you. Anyway you two took a break April 12th, the night Brent's childhood friend Richard dropped in unexpectedly. You took Brent to get his paycheck and that is when it happened. You and Brent were together a number of times after that and you did show each other affection and because you had broken up other times there was reason to assume that you might get back together. April 22 is when you really broke up. You were both on the couch in the family room and there were tears and when you left Brent told us that you two had broken up.

On April 25 you had phoned Brent and told him that you intended on going to the night club when he would be working and he agreed that he wouldn't interfere if nothing was going on with you and another guy. Anyone would know that it would be hard for Brent to see you with someone new but we all assumed that you were committed to go there because that was where your new friends had to be so he accepted it. In your email you said that you could have gone somewhere else "If he hadn't promised that nothing would happen then I would have gone somewhere else". I really wish that you had thought about that and gone somewhere else. Time heals all wounds, but you never gave him any time. Anyone could understand Brent's reaction it is absolutely normal and if you really think about it, you can too.

As for numbing you heart, you might feel that is what you have to do to get things done and I do understand exactly what you mean, it is not good for you though. But it is sad that you had to feel that way. It protected you when you were little, you did well, but if you go through life like that, it will harden you too much and you will miss out on a lot of feelings that you should have.

I feel so bad that you have told Dianne that the Crystal she knows is gone. I pray that it isn't true, that you were trying to numb yourself against losing your friendship with her. You have a lot of history with Dianne and I personally don't think that our Crystal is gone. I was with you more than I was with anyone this past while and I really think I know you. You should try to keep Dianne, she has always been there for you or am I just seeing that wrong?

Anyway, take care of yourself and when you feel comfortable enough to feel you can see us, please try. I hope we can keep contact on here in the meantime. Please tell me how you are and what you are doing with yourself if you have time.
There are still some clothes of yours that pop up from time to time too!
Take care and hope to talk to you on here soon.

Bye

Love Annie

Monica told me that they are doing the Track and Field day differently this year. It is so that people like Monica can't win it all like she did last year so they are limiting the number of events you can participate in. I can understand that completely, it shouldn't be about 2 girls, because it is just the school and they can compete in their area anyway. Monica and Holly decided not to do the standing broad so that other grade six girls will have an opportunity to get first place. That is so good of them.

I took Stacy to the Orthodontist. They don't think that she needs her retainer anymore so the dog is off the hook and no longer owes her a retainer! We didn't want to go to our normal everyday routines so we just browsed for a while.

Nadia went out to the Spiderman movie with Derrick, Stacy had Jessie over and Brent came later with some friends to watch a movie.

It has been raining all day so Caesar is a smelly mud mess. We are leaving him in the kitchen so that the mud will dry and fall off of him so we can sweep it away instead of bathing him every time he is muddy.

Baseball has been cancelled because of rain.

May 12/02

Well my computer is not working again, after I got a new hard drive motherboard and whatever else Brent needed to get it working. This time I am going to use my email to keep track of my diary until I get it working again.

Baseball was unbelievably frigid. James and I are just aching in the cold rain and wind, it was awful. Monica played bare armed today, she wouldn't wear anything on her arms despite the cold and our protests. She stole home and her arm was stepped on by the catcher and left a nasty mark.

I met up with a disagreeable parent, the kind you always here about. Yesterday he was talking about Monica and Sheena and how great his team played against them. Today it was how bad Stacy's team is and that his daughter is going to take up pitching so she can rescue the team. When I told him about the girl breaking her arm his eyes lit up and he ecstatically wondered out loud if his daughter, could pitch for that team. His callousness bothered me all day.

May 11/02

What a busy day. Between Monica and Stacy we had games at 8, 10, 2, 4 and 6 o'clock. I went back and forth between both of them and manned the Tim Horton stand for an hour at noon.

I brought Caesar for the first game and took him on a hiking trail, which he loved and didn't want to leave. I had to take him home because he broke through his chain.

They put Stacy in the middle of the batting order and during the day she did so well batting that she ended up second. She hit every time. The bats weren't going for the others and we lost every game. Stacy pitched after our pitcher had a couple bad innings and my stomach was in knots for the first batter but then I saw her go back to her own style and she did great. No runs came in that game while she pitched. They had her pitch all of the second game but the team was getting bad bounces and bad luck and rotten plays but I can see they are strong enough that once our coach figures out the positions they will be fine. The last game she was in left field and caught every ball that came out so I am sure they are very happy with her.

Monica pitched and played awesome as usual. She created a run down, challenged the catcher and when the catcher pretended to throw the ball, Monica ran in her direction instead of the other way and the catcher threw the ball so that Monica passed her and was clear of anyone at home plate. It was funny to watch.

Lindsay's sister broke her arm and had to be taken to Sick Kids Hospital because it was such a bad break. She is the pitcher of her Novice team and her dad is the coach.

Brent phoned asking for a ride from one party to another and I had to tell him that we were already in bed. I asked him to get a taxi because they have been drinking. He said I love you, which is kind of cool considering he was with his buddies.

Stacy went to Coral's with Jessie and Amy.

Stacy kept trying to get into our room to use the computer last night but really......sometimes we need privacy.

April is still in pain so we took April to the doctor this morning (we have to because of so many of us having our appendix out) and he thinks it is her ovaries. She should be ok.

I phoned the high school today to protest. I didn't think it was necessary to punish Jessie C. because everyone knew he was kidding with the kids. The Principal said that Jessie C. wasn't talking for himself, not saying what had happened and wouldn't identify himself (Brent has done this before when he said a teacher was being so unreasonable and if you haven't done anything wrong why tell who you are?) I said that my daughter said his name out loud and she wouldn't have said it if she thought he was going to get in trouble because he didn't do anything wrong, it was fun the highlight of their trip. She also said that the teacher didn't see what happened so how could she say that it was threatening?

The vice principal told me that they were making him write an apology to the elementary students. I said that the students don't want an apology, it wasn't necessary and I think it is just for the teacher's satisfaction. The Principal phoned the principal of the elementary school and randomly talked to two students. (Random, I don't think so) They talked to Josh and April, asked their opinion and then he spoke to the teacher. Josh said the same thing April did. She has no right to throw her weight around. After she accused April of cheating on her spelling because Josh and her both got 13/20 and then realized that they had different words wrong. What a bitch.

Shivers! We just got home from a teeth scattering cold baseball game, so cold that everyone had sleeping blankets wrapped around them. We warmed up with a very late pizza and we are off very soon to bed. There are baseball tournaments this weekend and we are hosting it so we will be all over the place.

They didn't use Stacy for Pitching; everyone seems to be unsure of how she will pitch, even Stacy. They have spent all the indoor season trying to change everything about the way she pitches, you have to wonder why they even asked for her. They never had her practice anything else but pitching in the indoor practice so they really don't know much about her. They used her in outfield and she hit and was on base every single time. They was at the bottom of the batting order and she really hit some nice ones. They lost by 3. Stacy had a good hit that scored and loaded the bases but the next 2 batters struck out on full counts.

May 9/02

April walked to the high school today with her class. Her new hair style was ironed straight, looked very dramatic and she was very pleased with it. I passed her class while they were walking to the high school for orientation and I was shocked that her hair had taken on a life of its own, grown in volume so that it looked like an out of control afro. It went so huge! I guess thinning her hair made it stick out more and she needs the weight of the long heavy hair to drag her hair down. I used this defrizzer this morning and instead of using 2 to 3 drops as directed I had to use 23 drops. The streaks are too intense, almost looks like she left it on too long, something along the lines of the bride of Frankenstein. Maybe this is a good time for her to go goth or punk or some style that can give this hairdo meaning. Of course the kids are teasing her. I think that maybe we should put a rinse on it to make it a little blonder.

At the high school orientation Jessie C. chased Jed, the Doobie Brothers little brother and told him that he was going to stuff him in a locker when he comes to grade 9. The kids all knew he was kidding but April's teacher felt it was necessary to get him in trouble anyway. He got an in school suspension.

ICQ messenger To Jessie C.
I hope you didn't get in too much trouble. The kids loved it, they thought it was the highlight of their trip. The girls think you are the best thing ever! It was the Doobie Brothers little brother, by the way.
Jessie C. -ya she was a major pain , and she lied too she said she saw what happened when she didn't see a thing.

I was all over the place for baseball in the evening and when I went to pick up April she had a bad pain in her side.

Brent and Adam went to Centennial College to write an entrance exam and after they paid for the exam they decided that this is not the College they want. I wish they had decided that before they had paid.

I bought Brent a Tux instead of renting. It is basically the same price. I had a Tux shirt of my dad’s but the collar is not the style he wants.

We took April and Monica to Wing place after with Joe and Sheena. They are going to sponsor our team.

Nadia was out with Derrick in the early afternoon, he got off his yard work because it started to team around 11:30. I didn’t see her for the rest of the evening.

Stacy wasn't home either when I got back from all my baseball so I phoned Jessie's and found out they had gone to the movies. I guess with him driving Stacy they have more time to be alone in the car, oh oh! I probably wouldn't even be wondering about this except they are still so young.

The pitcher's injury is not as bad as it looked so I think she will be back soon in about three weeks but we will have to be without her for the tournament this weekend.

April had Chelsea over for lunch and I served giant hot dogs. They came with a skin that I didn't take off and it was comical seeing Chelsea try to bite the hot dog and it wouldn't give! I guess that I have to read directions when I cook hotdogs!

We went to Don Cherry's with Dave and Marita for lunch. It is strange but she almost looks better right now, I guess knowing instead of always wondering is easier on the nerves.

Brent got his hair cut by Mario today. Mario can always turn a ho hum day into a great day; our spirits are always lifted when we go there!

The grade elevens are allowed to go to the prom and when I told Mario that Stacy was going to go with the girls, he seemed surprised. I don't know if he even knew about it but Jessie already told Stacy he couldn't go. If he already had asked to get the time off, it was for something else and if Stacy doesn't know why he asked for it off, then the plans were probably for the guys so that means he was making plans on his own so I think she should go. Brent and his friends will be there and she will be with the girls. Guys don't usually go in packs like the girls do so I really don't think that guys will even be available to be hitting on her but even if it happened she really has to learn how to handle it, especially when Jessie is drinking and leaves her all alone so that other guys notice her. She has to learn to take care of herself.

April got her hair cut, coloured and streaked by a hairdresser in training at our house. It took quite a while and she asked for $40. but I gave her $50. The girls all sat around and watched.

Brent has a bunch of guys in right now, playing pool. He wants to have a party here on the weekend, they say they won't let Dan drink, but I don't know. Brent wants to buy a tux for prom instead of renting it.

April's teacher made April and Tasha stand outside the school because she wore perfume. She says she is allergic to it but all the girls wear it anyway. April came home, sprayed perfume all over her coat and yelled, "Die b..."

Nadia went to a job interview and they are interested in her for a placement in the fall. It is a, Lacrosse equipment suppliers, in the middle of nowhere so if she gets it she will have to have a car and her license! They really liked her.

James brought home a Honda van and was trying to show us how the middle seats slide out and grabbed on the cup holder. Stacy told him he was pulling the cup holder but he didn't believe her and broke it. We are going to buy this kind of van. James has been looking and I haven't been helping because I don't want the stress of looking for one. Sorry for bailing James.

Tonight was Stacy's first Rep game and unfortunately our pitcher was injured badly. We think that when she went for a change up her body twisted around but her one knee didn't follow through and ripped. She was in agony and they picked her up off the diamond and quickly put her in a Van for the hospital. I hope she is ok.

Brent didn't go to school in the morning because Adam was sick? I could have driven him. Brent and I went to breakfast and Marita's mother-in-law was there. She said that they were going to send Marita to her parents so that she wouldn't have any stress. I had a tea with Marita, and we talked about what her wishes were. I told her to make sure that people knew what she wants so they won't all think that they are doing what is best for her without her consent.

I took Nadia to the store twice today to buy some clothes for job interviews.

James has been looking at vans again. He looked at the Kia which is $10,000 cheaper than the rest but the buy back is not quite $5000, compared to others at about $17,000 and so you are paying more monthly payments to pay for the whole van instead of half of it.

Nadia went out with Lauren for an ice cream and Derrick came over so we had a good conversation in front of the hockey game until Nadia got back. Last year he got in trouble umpping, and said something inappropriate to a woman that was hounding him. Now she isn't satisfied with his punishment and is threatening to sue the league so it is back to haunt him again. His parents don't know about it and considering that it was him that told me last year I am glad he could confide in me.

James went to baseball, and when they couldn't get the lights on the game in was cancelled. They went to Timmy's for a break.

Brent phoned around midnight last night to say that he was going to a late movie but he never came home and he didn't phone. He went and saw Spiderman again. His friends are really helping him over Crystal.

April is not feeling well, bad throat so she missed baseball practice.

Monica wore her new baseball outfit all day - she loves it. She took the dog for a walk, took too long so she is grounded.

Marita and Dave came over and had some awful news. She is going to have to have Brain Surgery and Heart Surgery and if she doesn't she will die. It is very serious. I couldn't help cry in front of her. She needed me when I had the headache last week and phoned me to find out what I was doing so that I could drive her to the hospital but she didn't end up asking me because of my headache. Stupid headache. There lives are going to so change. The arteries to her brain and heart are closing for some reason. At least someone is saying that they are figuring out what is going on.

Stacy is very upset with Jessie. He did it again, parties, drink, ignore routine, but this time he kissed a girl she didn't know in front of her and then denied it, never even introduced her to the girl and another girl confirmed it. So she spent the evening trying to fix it but she says he doesn't get it. She is getting madder the more she thinks about that kiss let alone the lying and the drinking and ignoring. I don't think he realizes how serious this is and how it will complicate their relationship. Jessie says that if he doesn't remember the kiss then it didn't mean anything. That kind of thinking would make cheating ok if you were drinking, he could say the same thing.

He also puts her down in front of his friends when he drinks and makes her feel like a second class person. This time he was talking about how good looking another girl was, his friend said that Stacy was better looking and he said that he didn't know. Another time Stacy said that he told a guy that he wanted to trade girlfriends. The other guy said he was kidding and Jessie said that he wasn't. Stacy doesn't need that kind of treatment and drinking is no excuse. This is what will probably ruin their relationship. He doesn't seem to like her when he is drinking. And other guys see this and either think that Stacy is a pushover to put up with this or else she is available to hit on. Later he gets mad when he realizes that other guys were paying her attention. It is like a circle; it keeps going on and on. I told her that she could be there for him while he tries to learn how to drink but she can't let him get away with how he treats her when he drinks. They have to fix it now.

She is confiding in Jake, I am so happy that she trusts another guy with her life as a friend and not trying to handle it all on her own.

This seems to be party weekend, Monica and April both had parties again. April went to Ronda's house's party, the only person invited or went, I don't know. I am proud of April that she isn't giving in to peer pressure about being Ronda's friend. She went with them at around 1, and came home around 11 at night!

Monica was at Cody's party, he invited 3 people and we have bought his gift at San Diego, it was all marked down half price, so we got him a bag full of gifts and he was so pleased with it.

James and I went to Mark and Carrie's to watch the hockey game and play cards. We all Leaf stickered our faces to help the Leaf's won it in the third overtime!

Today in assembly they praised Monica for her wrestling skills. They had the whole team up there but saved Monica for last. They talked about he having no points scored against her.

I still have this horrible headache. We went to James's moms this morning but I left and laid down for a couple of hours. Nadia gave me strong medicine but it still didn't help. James stayed with his mom until the late afternoon so that was nice.

Today was the opening of the movie Spiderman and it was such a big deal, Brent, Stacy and Monica all went with friends to see it. Monica was at Holly's birthday party and we went to pick them up, waited and waited and 3/4 of an hour later she had made it home with Colleen. Communication problem. We saw Richard there and he introduced us as his 'parents' on his old street. That was nice of him because he was so young when he left our neighbourhood that I didn't realized that he knew exactly how much he was with us.

April went to Chloe's birthday party. Nadia and Derrick stayed home here tonight and when we were looking for Monica we accidentally phoned Derrick on his cell phone. It must have been the last number dialled on my phone.

Rob is bothering April so much about going out with him that she has decided that she can't be nice to him, it only encourages him. He keeps asking her out and doesn't want to hear no.

I didn't sleep well last night and Nadia stayed up till about 3 with Brent who is disillusioned with Crystal's lies after reading my email (Nadia showed him-I don't know if I would have shown anyone but Nadia took that out of my hands).

Brent didn't go to school today. I worry about him not getting his grades, especially since he wants to go to Humber.

I still can't believe that Crystal is shutting everyone out. This can't be good for her. As far as I know Dianne and Nadia have been her longest friendships and she needs them even if she only sees them once in a while, you have to have a past with friends. She is only hurting herself.

Chess Tournament for April and Monica, and they were both on the same team. They came in 4th in C Flight and April did very well. My head hurt the whole day and I just couldn't bear to do some of the placements in the chest so I begged off of that.

Stacy came in to tell me that Caesar had chewed through the brand new vitamins jar and ate them all. They had to make him throw up- poor baby with hydrogen peroxide. The kids forgot to lock him in the kitchen. He was only alone for about 30 minutes.

My head hurt still so I went to bed early. I left the hockey game on while I dozed off only to hear Leaf's lose to Ottawa 5-0!

James is looking at Vans because his car is too hard to get into theses days. After the accident last year I don't think he thinks of it the same way.

Email from Crystal

Dear Annie,

I don't know what to say. I miss everyone alot but things between Brent and I are really bad right now. I don't know how much he has told you or how much of it has actually been true. I will try to tell part so maybe been us you will get the whole story.

About 4 weeks ago Brent and I broke up. I thought I really needed space. Brent and I were always fighting about stupid things and I was just getting ridiculous. We broke up then. As far as Brent was concerned it was a break and I didn't understand why he took us breaking up so well, I was in tears. But I later realized that he only thought of this as a break and expected us to get back together. I needed to clear my head and get away for a bit. It was right around then also that you showed up at my door that morning and we talked in the van.

I realized at that point that we had all become closer than I had ever even been to my own family. But I have a talent for numbing my heart and doing what I feel needs to be done. So as I feel that this was best for me I understand that doing so i have hurt alot of people. I am really sorry. I love you and your whole family but I don't want to go out with Brent. I understand that you need to respect Brent's wishes and probably not have me around anymore. i would love to still be able to sit around and play cards or monopoly until 1 in the morning. Those memories will always be cherished.

Anyways going back the the Brent and I situation... the other night I called Brent to find out if he would be working at Liquid on Friday night because about 15 of us from work were going down and I wanted to go but I didn't want Brent to start anything. He knew that I would be dancing with other guys and he promised me that he would not start anything. I was dancing with one guy that I am sort of attracted to and he leaned over and kissed me. I backed away and kept on dancing. About a minute later Brent started flipping out and screaming thanks for rubbing it in my face. He then started to push the guy around and had all of us kicked out. I had had a drink and wasn't planning on driving for another 2 or 2 and a half hours because I had driven over. But here I was drunk and now in the freezing cold because Brent saw someone kiss me flipped out and had about 6 of us kicked out. I had someone else drive my car home.

But that is the reason that I am not talking to Brent right now. I am very angry with him. If hadn't promised that nothing would happen then I would have gone somewhere else but he did promise me and he broke his promise. Up until then we were still on remotely decent terms. Anyways I really miss all of you and hope Brent and I can come to some calm meeting of the minds where we can be friends again but I don't see that happening any time soon. Please write me back I would really love to hear your thoughts.

Love always, Crystal

It is almost unfortunate that Crystal sent this to me because there are things in this letter that can't be true. I'll go over that later.

Nadia walked Caesar to Dianne's house and woke her up. Dianne is just moving back home from school in Ottawa.

Today was the Juniors chess tournament and it ran smoothly. April helped even though her teacher tried to stop it. She actually had April follow her around at recess to find the chess coach after April had already told her that he had given her permission. She tried to talk him out of it and she even said if she could have her way April wouldn't be allowed to help at all. The other grade eights who play chess were allowed to help, so I don't see why it was such a big deal that she didn't want April to help. After April babysat she came back to help, so April wasn't trying to just get out of school.

Natasha and Dianne went with Nadia to her try out and bumped into Crystal and while Nadia played, they talked to Crystal. They have ended their friendships with her but it sounds like it was Crystal's idea. When they came back Dianne held my arm as we all sat in the hall and said that she felt terrible saying this because she has always been there for Crystal but Crystal has duped us all. Crystal herself said that the Crystal that Dianne knew is gone. She also said that Crystal wished she felt more but she doesn't.

We talked in the hall for about an hour or so. Dianne told me that when Crystal didn't get her way she would fall back on being a Children's Aid kid. When I wouldn't let her live here, she used her trump card and was really upset when I didn't give in to Crystal and let her live here. At school she didn't come for weeks and when it was time to hand in term papers she went to the teacher and gave him such a sob story that the teacher actually chastised Dianne for not helping Crystal out when she was having so many problems in her life.

After I got home from the Wing place with James and Joe, I found Stacy, Nadia, and Brent downstairs talking about Crystal. Nadia had shown Brent Crystal's email and it very much affected him because he could see right there that she lied. Brent's honesty has never been in question but she also went up against me who has all along kept this diary. The most damaging thing in the email is when she said that they have been broken up for 4 weeks. Also, when she wrote, "If hadn't promised that nothing would happen then I would have gone somewhere else" Brent had told me that Crystal had to go there for a party but on this she is saying she had a choice.

I found out why Nadia was so against Crystal going out with Brent. A week after they had gone out Brent came to Nadia asking why Nadia had slept with Derrick so quickly. Crystal had told Brent that Nadia and Natasha had both slept with their boyfriends right away to try to show Brent that it was ok to do it right away because he thought that it was too soon. If ever you want to get a girl on the defensive it is when you lie about sex. In this case it was a girl (Crystal) that lied. Shortly after they started going out Crystal broke up with Brent saying "When he looks at me with love in his eyes, then I know that we moved to fast". It was her that was doing all the moving so Nadia was upset because she wanted to protect her brother.

We have both told Brent that he didn't do anything wrong and I said that one day you will meet someone that you will want to share your feelings with and she will know how to reciprocate. This relationship was all about control, Brent had a lot of patience with her, but he was slowly trying to re establish time for schoolwork, friends and family too.

Brent is going to the Prom with Chrissie now. She is the girl that I used to say to Brent in elementary school "Oh she's so cute, why don't you try and go out with her?"

Stacy and Jessie don't seem to be trying too hard to go out lately. I don't see them on the phone much and she really never knows when he is working or what his plans are. I wonder if they are growing apart?

April 30/02

I think that Nadia and Brent stayed up for most of the night. Nadia said that Brent is confiding in her and that Crystal has been manipulating Brent in every aspect of a girl/boy relationship. Nadia told him that when he finds a new girl that can have a relationship with him that has no manipulation, then he will understand how much of a poor girlfriend she was. I am glad Nadia could be there for Brent.

Brent and Stacy both stayed home today. Crystal picked up money that Brent owed her earlier in the month for the computer parts. I guess it is good to get all the financial bonds away so that they can have a clean break. I wonder if she will even think of all the money she owes me? I am not going to ask her for it, it was my lesson to learn.

James told me that one person has quit on the tier ones team and they are desperately trying to find another player- even someone that has been cut from the select team. They asked if Monica and Sheena could play for him if and when he needs them and Joe and James agreed.

Later in the day Crystal dropped off a bag of our stuff including things she borrowed from Halloween and yes, Stacy's top. We talked with her for a few minutes and we gave her some hugs. Maybe in time we will see her again. In turn Brent gave her things that were in his room, including any love notes and pictures, anything that reminded him of her. It was as if Brent was purging himself of her, no mementos what so ever! She looked sad that he gave back those kinds of things but she has really hurt Brent.

We had Mark and Carrie over for the hockey game and the Leafs advance. Yeah!!

April had Scott and Jeff over to watch the game and play pool.
