Peaces of me...

Nadia worked at the doctors Clinic today and had to walk home because I was at Basketball with Monica until 6.

The basketball coach is telling Monica that she has to pass more, while her coach from houseleague is asking her why she passes the ball so much when Monica has a clear shot and perfect opportunities at lay ups. Sometimes you can't win.

Crystal had her first day on the job at the dutch nursery. She is pretty excited about it and it will be nice to see her out in the world more.

Stacy had Amy over for the evening. I took them to Burger joint and then they went to the rep hockey game in the evening.

Nadia has reading week, I thought she was studying, but she is also reading novels. I am happy about her taking a break to read but I still must tease her about what reading week is suppose to be. Most of the Universities had reading week last week so she was able to see a lot of Dianne but this week Nadia is lonely. Natasha is in town but she hasn't seen her yet.

James is in Ottawa this week.

Derrick had his wisdom teeth out this morning so I drove Nadia over in the afternoon. He is in a bad way poor fella.

I took Nadia to get her hair cut at Mario's and he did an excellent job. He is extremely entertaining, you feel so refreshed after time with Mario. Imagine I am going to a biker barber not a hairdresser, barber and getting the best hair cuts ever. What would happen if Stacy and Jessie break up? Will I lose the best barber we have ever had? Nadia was so pleased with her cut too.

Nadia told she and me that she feels crowded at home now and she dreams of having her own basement apartment. Stacy used their computer last night instead of mine and I guess Nadia felt closed in. She stays in her room a lot away from us all. I guess that it is only normal and she needs her privacy and she is at an age where she can think about moving out. I also think that it is Derrick who can't handle what comes along with a big family but oh well, we are all a part of Nadia. Maybe I am wrong about how Derrick feels, I don't know. All Nadia needs to do though is find a job!

Monica had basketball after school and was sat out so much that the fans started chanting her name. I told them to cheer for the school team instead. One of the mothers constantly complains about Monica's court time so all we needed was for her to hear this cheering going on and she will be ragging on me and the coach again.

April is being accused over that bad email that was written in January so I helped her send a new email explaining how she felt about it and her friends. I hope people stop accusing her. Here it is:

High ppl.
I am sending this email to everyone that was on the email. I want to forget about it and have everyone, especially Laura to stop talking about it.
I don't understand why Laura keeps asking me about that email
Why it is her that is keeping it alive. Laura you know that you are constantly always asking me about it. Why me Laura? Why?
My mom was right there when I was writing the email to Laura the other night.
She saw what I wrote and told me not to write that but I was so sick of Laura always talking about it that I said what I said to her to get her to stop talking about it- I am so sick of hearing about it from her.
She seems to want everyone to keep talking about it. So my mistake was to say ok Laura I wrote it but it was to stop her from talking about it all the time. If you don't believe me ask my mom- she said I was wrong to admit to something I didn't do even if it was to stop Laura from always talking about it.
I don't even remember everyone who was in that email so I am sending this to whoever I can remember was in it.
I would never say anything bad about you guys. You are my friends. Whoever wrote this, wrote it about me too, but Laura keeps on forgetting that. I hate what they said about me just as much as everyone does. Does Laura forget that I was in that email being dissed too?
Chelsea I have known you since kindergarten, and you know how hard I tried to stay your friend when my mom didn't want me hanging around with you so why would I ever say anything about you?
Tasha you are my note writing buddy in class and you make me laugh- hard. Why would I say anything about you? Besides you could beat me up!
Chantelle thanks for believing in me. I believe in you too.
Erin I am so happy we are friends, you look at the good in everyone and you are always there for me when I need you. Beside we are going to be related......lol j/k
Haily do you really think that I think bad about you I ALWAYS stick up for you
Andrew there is never anything bad to say about you so why could I ever say anything bad. You are my locker buddy.
Alana I can't even remember what people said about you either but I think your great
Kristin you know how to break into people codes so you know how easy ANYONE could have gone in Chelsea's email. I am not blaming you at all, and I wish people would stop blaming me.
I can't even remember who else was in it because I deleted it as soon as I got it in my email because it was just crap. Remember I was grounded from my email that week and I saw it when Erin showed it to me at school
Everyone on that email are friends so I think that it is someone who doesn't hang around with us.
I invited you all to my parties so obviously I like every one of you.
How would you guys feel if it was you who some people were accusing of writing that email.
My older sister had her email hacked a couple of years ago and horrible things were sent to people so she wrote to everyone on her email address and explained and that was the end of that. She never found out who did it, and said unfortunately no one found out who wrote it. That's the bad thing about the Internet.
Lets all forget about that email. Whoever wrote it obviously doesn’t hang around with us. They just wanted to cause shit and it is working. LETS ALL FORGET ABOUT IT!!!
Laura has been pissing me off bugging me the whole time so I sarcastically said If that's what you want to believe then fine I did it. She asked me every time I see her and I am sick and tired of it. Whenever any of you asked me if I did it I told you the truth that no I didn’t but when Laura bugged me so much I just got sarcastic with her which Laura and me usually do.
END OF STORY
Oh yeah I guess you all forget I WAS GROUNDED FROM THE INTERNET for a whole week during when that email was sent for being on MSN which you all know that I am not allowed to be on. So instead of pointing fingers at me, look in the mirror and think how it would feel if it was you always being blamed. Someone is getting a good laugh outta' this. And it's not me!
I am so sick of this.
Well that’s it for me. Talk To Ya Later, write me back. BYE!
Luv~!~*~!~*~!~*~Me
I didn't mean loserz ok?

Stacy ran at the track with Jessie tonight. She realizes that she should not be in Rugby because if she gets injured she can't work at her job because it is physical- a mature decision because she really wanted to do it, but her good knee went out the other day.

Feb 25/02

Brent and Stacy have been hearing about Stacy's party at school, what a big success it was and people are making plans for the party next week. What party?

Josh B said that his parents phoned the police about the party, saying that kids were out all over the lawn, when the police got here there was no one outside so they didn't bother us. It figures they would phone.

Crystal bought Brent a watch for an early birthday present. He is very happy with it and so pumped up on caffeine that he was hyper. He stayed up with me for hours and I love talking to him even if it is the caffeine induced.

Stacy didn't go to the baseball practice tonight, she was upset about Jessie and the party. Jessie paid a little too much attention to Coral at the party. Crystal mentioned that she didn't like her at all and since she is a nice girl I think she saw something too. I can see Coral being close to Jamie. First, Stacy and her are friends. She just went through a break up after more than 3 years and because she is good looking and quiet (sound familiar?) the guys are moving in on her fast. She would feel safe with Jessie because Jessie has a girlfriend and she wouldn't think that anything he does and says is coming on to her.

Stacy talked to Jessie about it and he brought Woody into the picture. I can also see Woody being close to Stacy for the exact same reason - he just had a break up too and Stacy is safe. Stacy wouldn't think he is trying to move in on her because she has a boyfriend. Therefore all this can be very innocent, but their feelings are both being hurt. Jealousy is a horrible feeling and it can cause problems that aren't even there. She was in her room talking on icq with both of them for hours. Woody was helping her sort out her feelings about Jessie and Coral. He seems like a nice guy.

Stacy also said that Valentine's Day turned out different than Jessie had hoped, it didn't work out. They tried, and they couldn't. Whatever type of stress or nerves took place, the night was classified as a failure. Jessie took it very hard. It's not uncommon for it not to work the first time. She suggested to him that they try again right away but it looks like he is doing his best to postpone the sex indefinitely. Poor guy. In the meantime he is acting like a guys guy, talking about girls, comparing them... thumping his chest to look like a man. And now this happens with Coral, maybe it was deliberate and not something innocent as I thought? Thing is, he is a real man, or man boy, he just doesn't see that she needs him as the sensitive guy he was and that the one time doesn't matter to her. She said she doesn't feel the same about sex now that Coral is in the picture.

I am so glad that Stacy talks to me about these things. Obviously they are both not ready for that part of a relationship and I am so impressed with Stacy, who takes the pill for reasons other that birth control. She is abstaining from the sexual part of it until she is sure of him. She has a very high standard of morals and is a high-class strong willed person.

---

You try to protect your children from all the bad in the world but sometimes you have to protect them for themselves. I spent a good portion of the day trying to figure out the predicament April has managed to find herself in. This is one problem that I have been in before, where people think the worst of you. I can help her help herself.

I don't know if this was a strange way of dealing with problems but it worked for a while at our house. When the kids were little I told them that they were going to make little mistake from time to time. Instead of covering up or lying, instead of trying to talk there way out of it, they should admit to what they have done, accept the consequences and get on with their life. Get over the bad stuff so you can enjoy the rest of your day. And it worked. Ours was usually a happy house. However it did pose a new problem. It made it easier for some of my kids to take the blame for things they didn't do, all in order to make the day go smoothly. Is this why April took the blame?

I know April was trying to make everything better by taking the blame, I have witnessed it so often in my children. She actually thought that if everyone had someone to blame then people would soon forget about it. But that it doesn't work in the real world. April must stand up for herself now.

I wasn't going to tell her that everything would all work out the way she wanted it to. Kids are cruel and many times not forgiving. I told her that she could be in for a bumpy ride for the rest of the school year. If it was any consolation she should be happy to be from a big family. If she can't hang out with the people of her choice, she still had her family. Then of course, there is Jeff. He is always there and will always be her friend. Just reminding her how many times he rings our doorbell, how many times in one day he phones her made her smile.

I told her that I have seen every year in grade 7 and 8 one kid get ostracized by the rest of the kids, and that they usually have a lonely existence. If she is the one that this will happen to this year at least she has her sisters and brother and Jeff. I reminded her that she would be entering high school and it would be a fresh new start for her where I looked forward to her making new friends.

I told her that this was a game to most of the kids involved and hopefully she is not playing it too because I can only go on what she tells me. It is a game that the more mature kids get tired of very quickly but the immature hold on to it and make it take the place of their childhood. Hopefully she is one of the mature kids and she will be grow to be tired of playing this game.

I told her to make one more attempt to try and clear her name. She couldn't remember who all was on the original email that trashed so many girls, so I told her to just write an email to the people that she actually cared what they thought about her.

It has to be in her own words and so she thought about everything.

The only point I wanted to make was that it was Laura who was the one that was after her the most. Laura isn't even in the same grade or school so she was the one being the most vicious about this whole thing. I wanted her to know that in all this mess, Laura is the one she should be most angry with. I told her to focus the anger on her because she has been back stabbing but she must now that there would be no going back and trusting her ever again.

Feb 24/02

Monica had a sleep over at Ashley's so I had to pick her up at 8 in the morning for Volleyball. She was absolutely covered in drawings and Cory's name.

While I was spectating (haha, new word!) the volleyball, a parent overheard one of the teenage volunteer coaches thank me for letting them party at our house last night. While this parent normally seems to have the same feelings I have about being a parent it became obvious that we go about it in a completely different manner. He seems to be in your face, nobody can do anything wrong, I will tell on everybody if I think there doing something wrong. I am, be with them as much as you can and help them over the humps as they learn from little mistakes. Hopefully you can learn to help eliminate the big mistakes.

His daughter is not allowed to go to house parties. I fear house parties too, but they are going to happen, I don't think you can stop it. But if you can teach them to drink responsibly, and maybe host some of those house parties where they can't use the bedrooms (by your presence), everyone can be safe and have a good time. He is a cop and we both feared what can happen from our own experiences.

I will always remember Benny party even though it was so long ago. He was trying to conceal me from his older brothers by hiding me in a closet overnight. He threw a pile of clothes and shoes over me as camouflage. He stayed by the door to protect me and when his brothers and friends finally did get into the room, he had opened the window so that it looked like I had fled out the window. I still find it hard to believe that his brothers spiked my drink, but with the amount I drank I should have been drunk but I felt cold sober. People told me that the one counteracted the other, I don't know. I just know I was lucky to have a friend like Benny. That was one grounding that I didn't mind having (for staying out all night) because I didn't want to see his brothers that week. I wish I still knew Benny.

Anyway the cop could not see my point of view. I could see his, but I don't think he will find that his daughter will abide by his rulings. I predict complete rebellion from his daughter. I won't enjoy watching it but I can see it coming. You can't rule over your children. You can guide them but I believe he will not know what his daughter will be doing and so far I know most of what my kids are doing.

That talk with the cop really bothered me all day. He said that no matter what I thought, all teenager boys are out for sex and that is all, that is the only part of the relationship that matters, that is it. They don't want to know the girl at all. He criticized me for allowing my dughters to go to the boys hockey games because that is where the guys validate themselves with each other. The girls are just trophies. He says that basically the girls are meat and the guys are out for fast food. How is he going to let his daughter grow up? She will rebel.

I never got to see the big game today and I was so looking forward to it. I was in transit and at a track meet while Canada won the Gold for men's hockey! I had to take Monica to York University for a relay race. That is the only indoor track we do these days and it is a done as a favour to Colleen when one of her regular runners can't make a meet. Colleen is the coach for Indoor track. Her daughter Holly, Monica's best friend, runs begrudgingly and just hates it, but Colleen insists that she participate. Colleen was pissed at me for coming so late but I told her I would be there and I have never let her down ever, so what as the big deal? I got there about half an hour before the race, enough time for Monica to warm up. I was offended because she has the nerve to be upset with me. I know the fucking routine! I didn't take an hour's drive for someone to get angry with me. I have been involved with Track long enough to know the schedules and how much time is involved for each level of race, so I made it in plenty of time.

Monica's relay team came in second, one second behind the winning team that ran in another heat. It was too bad that they weren't in the same heat. Monica was taken aside and asked by a rep coach and a select coach to try out for their soccer teams.

We heard a lot of horn blowing in celebration on Canada's win but we never thought to look out our back yard because there was a street party......miles of flags waving cars. Mark said it was a real big deal!

I was lost in my computer world when Brent burst into my room warning me to get April off her computer immediately, that she was getting herself into trouble. I asked for an explanation but he yelled for me to trust him so we barged in on April. She jumped up in surprise but she managed to complete her task. Brad discreetly brought me back down to Mike's computer and explained that he had been monitoring April's computer with his new programme. He had seen some of the email and he provided me with a portion of the email that he had managed to save. It was hard to understand but here goes.

April sent the stupid email to Laura because Laura keeps blaming her for sending the first email (the one that bad mouths a lot of girls) April was so sick of it and in her own sarcastic way sarcastic she says:

I just got your email and I wanted to no......You said you got an idea. Who is it? Well who do you think it is? Please don't think I did it. I have proven I haven't been on @ all! Krista was doing my hair for 4 hours! I before I had Michelle over! She was here till 2 or 1 I don't remember. So Please. Oh yeah and please don't tell everyone I wrote that email. I would have admitted to it before but people said they are gonna get ppl to kick whoever wrote its ass. I don't want to. It was all a mistake and I wish I could take it back but it's over and Passed! I don't want people to get mad @ me. I'm not having that subject around me again. I told my dad that and he said if someone that was @ my house brought it up and blamed me he's gonna kick them out. So if your ever over here and blame me for it be prepared to get kicked out ok? And if it's not happening @ my house I'll just walk away...even if I have to leave someones house. I don't care. Can you keep a secret? I tried to kill myself after the next day it was sent. I didn't mean to! And it made ppl cry so I

She shouldn't have done that- it will only keep the fires burning. I talked to her for a long time, she doesn't know how I know about the email but she is upset about the whole mess she is in. What Brent showed me is so fragmented that I don't know exactly what she sent, was she just rambling or did she just send a portion of it? Was she really admitting to it because in the same email she was denying it. All worst of all, what is this about killing herself?

I feel good that Brent being the big brother is watching over her but at the same time I didn't realize that he was using that program. Is he watching me too?

My god, is there no end to this day?

Feb 23/02

Stacy had a party tonight, she really had the family working hard at cleaning which is always good.

The party turned huge and they sounded like they were having a lot of fun. Some of them brought a keg! They only thing that I didn't like was that there were kids smoking pot outside, but I don't know where. You could really smell it on them. A lot of kids were going in and out because the basement really heats up. We have to find the window in that room - it was drywalled over. I couldn't tell exactly who but the one kid that seemed to be around when I smelled it alot was Boody.

Anyway if they said there were 30 people there I wouldn't be surprised. Some kids needed a ride home so I rather drive them that see them on the streets. Still the two kids that have always impressed me the most are Jake and Chet, they were the nicest to me and the most responsible. Jake was at the front door, making sure he knew everyone who tried to enter. He turned a lot of kids away.

Crystal was enjoying a fast-talker, bragging that he was a college boy on a hockey scholarship. I don't think so.

Melissa's boyfriend was plastered and passed out on our stairs. I had to wash his face with cold water to get some life back into him. But not befoe I took some black mail pictures of him flaked out on the stairs. He is going to be pretty rough tomorrow, but Melissa took care of him . Too bad she couldn't have stopped him before he drank so many beers. He looked like he was going to puke and he was sitting on the front stairs leaning over the huge pile of shoes. I kept envisioning him getting sick on the shoes so I asked Melissa to move him outside. He threw up the moment he went outside.

Matt Harper, the guy that was at Josh's limo party was there, it is weird seeing a kid at the age of 13 and then see him as an older teenager, his looks have changed lots. He is the guy that Stacy spotted a couple of years ago in our car and as she was saying something about him I snuck down her window so he could hear her talking about him, it was so funny, she laughed her guts out!

Jessie was paying Coral a lot of attention tonight and a lot of people noticed it and whispered about it. Some of the girls phoned one of the school 'hunks' on Coral's behalf. Even though guys did not want him thee someone contacted him, he came and that made it better for Stacy with Jessie. Crystal was really bothered by it thougrh, she doesn't like Coral at all. I told her that Coral wasn't like that (trying for Jessie) and since her boyfriend has broken up with her, she is the one all the guys are after. She is so shy and pretty, like Stacy and is spending more time with Jessie because Jessie has a girlfriend and is not trying for her, she feels safe with him. I hope I am right about this.

Brent had to work tonight so he missed the party. He shouldn't have taken last night off. He should try to work even if he is not feeling well. He takes too much school and work off not feeling well. It is more not feeling like it, than not feeling well.

James spent the whole evening upstairs lying in bed not feeling good. I wish he would go to the doctors when he feels like this because him being up in his bed is getting to be regular.

Feb 22/02

Sullivan was here again for Brent's party last night. He wasn't that noticeable but he made an impression on me this morning. He strikes me as an interesting individual, he has a contrast of being quiet but the same time exuding confidence- strange combination. He made breakfast for Brent and himself and he was comfortable enough to be in charge at other people's kitchen.
Maybe he is only quiet around parents though because Dan's web pictures show a different story.

He lives in our old neighborhood. I wanted Stacy to go out when they were having breakfast and talk to him but she just gave me a weird look. Just because she has a boyfriend doesn't mean she can't talk to Brent's friends. I felt guilty about trying but I just thought he was confident enough that she might be comfortable talking with him. I want her to talk to as many people as possible. I think she thought I meant as someone to be interested in and not to find interesting.

Nadia spent the evening at Derrick's.

Monica went with Holly and Sheena to see Crossroads.

Stacy asked Crystal if she wanted to go to the movies so Stacy invited Crystal to hang out with her friends. Crystal couldn't afford it so hers was paid for. That was so nice of Stacy. They left to pick up people at 9 so I guess they must have gone to a late movie.

Jessie always has to work on Fridays and doesn't get out until late to socalize. Every week now he works Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Stacy says that he is good at saving so he will have something to show for it soon! Jessie told me that the school hockey coach was mad because players were saying things about the weasel Darren so he said who ever does that won't play next year. I guess that Darren asks for that kind of treatment, judging on the way he treated Stacy.

Brent was supposed to work at the nightclub tonight but he asked Adam to cover for him because he wasn't feeling well. Fifteen minutes before the shift Adam phoned to say he changed his mind so a very ticked off Brent had to go in. Then Brent phoned at 11:30 to say he found someone to work for him so I picked him up. Brent is kind of sad that Nadia doesn't treat Crystal better. You can see how much he cares for Crystal when he kept running to the door so that Crystal wouldn't leave after she dropped Stacy off. It was cute.

April is having a party and a sleep over. It is a little wild, they are all over the house.
These kids are driving me nuts tonight, they keep running in and out of the house.

Nadia had an exam, and the whole course failed except her, she got 87%!

James, Marita, Dave and I went to Don Cherry's. We met the owner, who is a friend of Nadia's mentor, at College. He is going to give us some Hockey d' bar art for our basement.

Jessie came over and Wet Willie'd Stacy for quite and while after they made cookies.

April stayed over night at Laura's. I don't like the idea of April getting so close to these girls. They are always available so I guess that is why we see them around so much. Can't their parents amuse them, keep them busy somehow? I guess if they had kept them busy in the first place they wouldn't be such a concern. They would have values that we appreciated and they wouldn't be a problem. Tara just reeks of attitude, she hates anyone over 20. Any attempts to get close to her are met with a curled up nose and a hair fling and rolling eyes. I can't wait until she mutates into a person.

Brent wanted me to make him supper (demand feeding) and I said no (neglectful mother) so he picked me up over his shoulder and stared to twirl me. He spun me for way too long, we both got dizzy and while he tried to set me down, I struggled to right myself and I fell down on the corner of the wall. My back hurts so much. I won't complain to him though!

Brent had a party tonight and they got wild with the Cool Whip so Brent had to rescue the whip cream from the basement. It got in all the crevices of the pool table. I expected that more from Monica's young crowd than Brent's.

We watched the Canadian Women's Olympic hockey beat the American's and the biased ref. We had 8 consecutive questionable penalties.

More Basketball today but April's team is out of the finals. April must be exhausted. She had 7 games in 2 days and then April had to go to house league Basketball too!

The Principal begged me to become a lunchroom supervisor but ah, no!

Nadia and Derrick went to the Toronto Raptors game. One of Nadia's teachers gave her the tickets. Nadia left the game early so that she could see the Canada Olympic Hockey - they won!

We have to watch Monica on the phone with Cory- it is constant now and I think her homework is suffering. I had a talk with Monica about her demeanour in the morning- I want her to fix it now or changes will have to be made because she is a bear in the morning.

Poor Crystal, we woke up this morning and found a parking ticket on her car. Crystal was so upset, she cried. Our street was the only one ticketed so someone must have phoned. Unfortunately Crystal cried about it so much that she reminded me of a drama queen. I don't like watching my son have to stroke her ego because she can't be consoled. But enough already! Lighten up!

April had Basketball finals and believe it or not (I don't) they are moving on. We ended up finishing at 7:30 after playing 5 games at 2 schools. Amazing. April had Barqs Root Beer the parents were amazed at how hyper she got with the Root Beer. April doesn’t need any stimulants; she is always on a natural high! The caffeine affected her big time and she couldn't get to sleep until after 3am. No more Barqs April!

When we got home Crystal had made supper for us - tacos and we were both so hungry, it was much appreciated.

Brent slept downstairs again with Crystal so I had to have another talk with him. I know, yada yada yada.

Nadia made peanut butter cookies in the morning. Finally one of my girls is trying to use the kitchen!

Brent said someone got stabbed at school and someone else overdosed- tough school.

Crystal and Stacy went grocery shopping and Crystal came back and baked chocolate chip cookies and white chocolate for me! Unfortunately I could see right through her trying to upstage Nadia but it doesn't work that way. Nadia made the initial gesture and that is what I see. I feel bad that she has to think there is competition and I am sure Nadia can see right trough it too - so transparent.

Stacy was asked to officially join the rep team for baseball.

I am kind of surprised about Stacy and Jamie's relationship. Normally people who "love" each other would jump at the chance to be alone together but I haven't heard a word about Stacy and Jamie's evening together or her asking to use Gramma's house again at all. I don't think it is because they are shy about it. They don't really seem to be trying to get alone together. I know that when they ae at his house his mom is always there so they are never alone there. It is almost like their jobs and other commitments are making it easy to not be together. Or what, I don't know. I am wondering that by making the time for them to be alone did I force the issue that they have grown apart or there is nothing there?

I told Monica that I was proud of her and Cory for not buckling under peer pressure to kiss at the dance on Friday. It showed that they can’t be pushed around into doing something just because everyone else is doing it. However she is doing the traditional declaration of ownership in that she is writing Cory’s name all over her, mostly her hands and arms. I can only smile when I remember a time when I had the initials DB all over my body on places more personal than my hands which drove my mom batty. I guess some things don’t change with time.
James went to Joe's for a softball meeting and forgot to take Monica!

Visited with Marita and Dave this afternoon.

Nadia hung around with Dianne for the afternoon.

Brent sat at work with Crystal for 3 hours. Must be an exciting day, sitting there watching her serve customers. I guess it is better than having him sleep all day.

In Jessie's hockey game four of his teammates were ejected and he scored when they were playing 3 on 5! Stacy went after to watch his step dad, Mario's hockey game.

Nadia was at Derrick's for the hockey game.

April went to Chelsea's but was called home because she was grounded. Details are not important, she is just one stubborn girl!

James and Monica went to a Batting Clinic at the College. Monica is lucky that she is experiencing so many gifted coaches.

Stacy's baby-sitting job feels like a waste of time, she sits idle for hours but they are paying her well. She got a raise to $13.14 an hour!

Soccer was wild today. James, Colleen and I sat upstairs today but you could still hear parents yelling about triple shifting. The coach from the red team had been penalized and suspended last game for switching shifts in play but the fans thought we were cheating when we only had two players to change. They only wanted us to bench our strong players. Yeah right! We lost but it was expected.

Holly spent the day at our house. She just loves to play our piano. It is too bad that our kids don't enjoy the music like she does. She will actually sit there playing for hours while Monica busy's herself with other interests.

April was at Chantelle's for a Birthday and sleep over.

Stacy double dated at Melissa's.

Brent and his friends took Adam and Steve out to dinner for their birthdays.

I drove Crystal and Dianne to the nightclub. Kady wanted them to meet them on the Main Street but I drove them up because, by reputation, I was so sure she wouldn't show. I was right.

We are thinking of ways in which we can mutilate Monica's talking teddy bear, a Valentines gift from Cory. If I hear "Mwauh......I love you" more than 10 times in a night. I am going to dissect the little fur ball myself. My other kids are only too anxious to help me.

Feb. 15/02

I couldn't stop thinking about my childhood last night- about the way mom treated me, I guess from what Hannah told me yesterday. After all this time it can still keep me up at nights.

Stacy never talked about her night with Jessie last night, she even avoids any mention of it. I hope everything turned out OK but if she doesn't want to talk about it, oh well?

Brent and Crystal came home and apologized for staying out all night- I don't think James knows.

Brandon, of the Doobie Brothers, got into an accident last night unfortunately, trying to avoid what he thought was an accident and ended up causing one in the next lane- too bad because Brent says he is one of the best drivers

Stacy used the straightening iron and wore her hair down long-finally. Mario trimmed it after school. It looks really good and even shows what nice colour her hair is. When it is up all the time you only notice the faded ends. Her hair is very dark and a beautiful colour.

The Canadian figure skaters were awarded the gold finally! Men's hockey lost big time to Sweden - Matts Sundin was great.

It is amazing what you find out when you are in the wrong place. The grade 8's had a soap opera going on. I went to pick up April's crowd from the preteen dance and stood in the middle of the dance floor and got an ear full! Erin and her love interest are going out again and Tash was so upset about it that she wouldn't get a ride home with us from the dance! They broke up because the guy was worried that Amber would hurt Erin. I thought that when Amber moved that she couldn't cause any more trouble - wrong.

Meanwhile the grade 6's are testing the waters too! All the grade six couples kissed except Monica and Cory! Word has it that the boys all had a wager about it! Brandy kissed Jeff (they are not going out) and he was so upset that he scrubbed his face off in the bathroom, phoned fir his mom and wouldn't come back into the dance, he left early.

Brent went to the Auto show and bought Crystal super blue headlights.

Feb 14/02

I snatched clothes from Stacy's bedroom and moulded them in the shape of Nadia sleeping so Stacy would think Nadia was in the room with her so that she wouldn't suspect anything out of the ordinary for Jessie's surprise. Nadia had already told her that she was studying downstairs but I was not aware of that. In the morning I was removing it so that Jessie wouldn't see a mess of clothes. Stacy was talking in her sleep, she does that alot. She went to the washroom and for once she wasn't wearing something nice because she hadn't felt well the night before. Even her pockets were sticking out! I told her it was 6am and to go back to bed. Jessie came at 7:25 with flowers and a huge stuffed toy! She made him French toast and then he left.

Derrick was at the door, as I was leaving. He was hiding something underneath his jacket for Nadia, so it was a pretty fun morning.

Brent got Crystal 2 chenille stuffed teddy bears with glow in the dark underwear on. I spent the morning finishing the candy buying for Valentines.

Monica's calls decided to draw names to buy Valentines gifts. Monica bought Cody a laid back teddy bear with a Valentine speedo stuffed with candy. Apparently Cody wouldn't put it down and was very impressed with the sucker sticking out of the teddy bear's pants. Marco was suppose to get Monica a gift (it was a not so secret valentine draw) but lil Mike traded to get Monica! She bought Cory kissing bears with magnets in the noses so that they stick together in a kiss. He bought her a talking stuffed toy. We thought it said HO HO but it actually said XO XO!

April gave 2 guys candy and Braden a card that basically said that when you realize that you love me I will be there. I know that April feels left out of this day because she doesn't have a boyfriend. 'They' have blown Valentines Day out of proportion to exclude people who are normally very content with the way they lead their lives.

The High school hockey had its last play-off hockey game and lost. Cutie Pie Jamie lost his cool when someone tripped him as he went past the other teams bench. He even hit the ref but luckily he only got 10 minutes.

Hannah was talking about Jessie when he was little and his dad's mean treatment of him. Jessie is lucky that he now has Mario in his life. Unfortunately it brought back bad memories of my mom with me. I guess people don't stop to think that you can never take back words and you can remember them all your life.

James and I went to The Waterfront and the menu was limited and about $40.00 more than it should be. We are getting tired of going out on special dates like Valentine and Mothers day only to be disappointed in the menu and to be so overcharged that we feel ripped off. We will not go out on these nights to restaurants anymore.

Mom dropped by later with a t4 slip and told me that she put my missing money in her bank account until she figured out what she wanted to do with it and then re-invested the $7,000 along with $3,000 more back in my name. I truly believe that if I had questioned her it would have served its purpose and gotten us in a huge fight- which I think she needs to do from time to time but I won't play those games. I would rather be minus the money than play the head games that my mother loves so much.

After work Stacy and Jessie went to Gramma's. I turned the heat and the water on for them this morning. They didn't stay there all that long.

Stacy is already trying to figure out what Jessie is up to and is already thinking of how to get up early to make sure the house is clean. Nadia is going to sleep downstairs.

Nadia will be working at the Doctors Clinic filing every Friday afternoon with Derrick. Nadia never looks for jobs, they find Nadia! Nadia also received an autographed picture of Shane Courson just because people know she loves hockey.

At lunch Monica told us that Brandy is pretending to be Monica on MSN messenger and bad mouthing people- even April's friends. That is why some girl phoned for April the other day and then asked for Monica. Brandy phoned 5 times at lunch. What a pest.

Went shopping for Valentine's for the kids. I made up there bag of goodies but this time I included their significant others!

There is no Basketball because of the grade 10 testing.

April and I were at school basketball tournament until 9pm and unfortunately they couldn't do anything right, lost every game. April is such a good sport- the reffs commented on how happy April always is. She would be a good cheerleader!

Feb 12/02

Today was the Valentine Toy and Bake sale at school. While we were busy helping out, the chess coach asked Marita and I if we would help with the Chess Tournament. He was going to invite the parents of the new school until I mentioned that there was a lot of tension with them last time. That might have been a bitchy thing to do but why do through the torture of the gossip queen when you don't have to?

It was also backwards day today, the kids wore there clothes the wrong way.

Nadia hooter mooned Derrick in our driveway just in time for me to drive around the corner and see a very self-conscious Derrick and Nadia with a devilish smile. It was funny. I am glad my saucy Nadia has such a comfortable relationship. Humour even if it is teetering on ---- teasing is so darn good for a relationship!

Stacy seemed bored out of her mind this evening. I think that she was expecting to talk to Jessie because she kept asking me to see if "anyone" was on her icq. Then she laid down just waiting. I got her up for a movie but after she was so bored that she scrubbed the bathroom tiles! He finally came on late, I was in bed already but she got me up to talk to him.

Jessie asked me on icq.

Do u think she will like it if I came early in the morning with Valentines Day stuff. I can wake her up and give it to her, do u think she would like it?

He asked me to delete it from her icq right away so I copied it for my diary because it was so cute!

This is fun! He is going to try to come around 7:30 in the morning. She was so excited when I was talking to him that she jumped on my hubbie and woke James up- he wasn't impressed.

Feb 11/02

Stacy was lamenting that Jessie and her hardly have any alone time together, that someone is always with them. I mentioned that being alone, completely alone, can mean that things could escalate between them but she said that they should be allowed some time together. With that in mind and with hours of soul searching, I have offered Gramma's house to Stacy and Jessie for Valentine's Day last night because our house already has people planning their special Valentine's night. I know that this might put their relationship on a new level, but I think that they are mature enough to understand what they want. I guess if they tell Hannah and Mario that they are going over there, will determine how mature they are about the relationship. I want them to have all the time in the world to develop what they have, so it is not that this has to be "the night". I just want them to have some time together instead of trying to find some stolen time- that is where I think that they might move too fast. This way it is all their decision - I don't know, I just hope I am doing the right thing and not putting pressure on them into thinking that they have to do something. That is not my intention.

Went grocery shopping with Nadia for her dinner with Derrick. He is cooking chicken in an orange sauce.

It is pyjama day at school so Monica wore her yellow pj's but the French teacher told her to pull them up so that they covered more of her stomach.

James is still out of town, he comes back late tonight. The kids were madly cleaning up because James has offered $50.00 for each person who REALLY cleans up. This has inspired Crystal, she is busy as a bee and extremely happy to be helping around our house.

I left Stacy at Baseball practice alone this time. She prefers me to be there.

James came home pretty burnt. They had tequila one night and they got so hammered that they kind of eased up on drinking the rest of the trip so James was relieved about that. They are mostly very heavy drinkers and he feels a lot of pressure to keep up with them

Nadia has decided to wait for their anniversary to give Derrick the watch, which is a good idea. Nadia has truly discovered the joy of giving and she loves finding a gift that fits the person she is giving to. She just doesn't know when to stop buying.

The Canadian figure skaters were awarded the silver for a perfect performance while the Russians got gold and they fell. Something is very wrong about it all and it is hard to believe that they - the judges can get away with it.

Feb 10/02 Sunday

Had volleyball for April and Monica as usual but Nadia had bingo so I had to go back and forth for a while. She smells so bad of smoke when she is finished that she takes about an hour shower!

Monica spent the afternoon with her softball buddy Sheena at the movies and her house.

Nadia is getting carried away with Valentine gifts for Derrick. She has about 4, when one would do.

E-mail to Gramma in Florida
Hi you all!
Life is still crazy here- like a soap opera- you never know what to expect from day to day.

Brent got suspended from school- he was lucky, they could have expelled him or taken away his computer privileges but he only got 3 days.

He took control over the school computers and sent some messages. Some guy saw him and squealed on him- that guy is not too popular at school right now. For some reason, the right people at school like Brent (I think the vice Principal has a kind of admiration for Brent) because when the teacher told him he was being suspended for 3 days the V.P. took him aside and said they would start the 3 days effective that morning and since he had spent that whole day in school it really is only 2 days

No one can keep a straight face when they talk about it, but Brent knows that what he did was serious and that it could have cost him his future career.

This weekend has been full of soccer and basketball tournaments. Monica's lousy soccer team actually won a playoff game so they have to play next week. I wanted out quick- put them out of their misery. Monica was asked at basketball game if we would consider having her play rep soccer! I don't think so. We start a Batting clinic for her next week too.

Stacy has been asked to join a rep Baseball so she practices with them every Monday night, the same night that Monica does.

James as you know is in Key West until Monday night.

Hope you are having lots of fun and crack open a beer and have one for me!

Monica's sad excuse for a soccer team had the nerve to win a game today so that means we have to play next week too. They are so bad- dead last. Went to Timmy's with Holly and Colleen and she left her purse there. In-between games I watched April's basketball tournament that fortunately was near by.

In the evening Stacy was driving to Melissa's house and then they went off to a movie. As we were coming up on the school, a van slowed down to turn into a street and then decided not to. Then it made the motions to enter the school parking lot and swerved at the last minute back into the road. At that point I said that Stacy (she was driving) should keep her distance from him and people like him. He signalled to turn left and actually committed this time. We were turning there too, but Stacy kept her distance from him. All of a sudden he stopped and threw his car into reverse actually laying rubber he was going so fast. Stacy, without hesitation, slammed the van into reverse and gunned the gas and we screeched backwards. She did it so fast that the she out ran the van. It was so close! Then she laid on the horn. We made her turn and unbelievably there was a car who had meant to stop curb side, but they must have been drinking because it was if they just stopped the car in the middle of the road and left it there. It felt like we were in the Twilight Zone. Wow!

Feb 8/02

I tried to stay out as much as possible this afternoon, so that I wouldn't get that phone call from the school for Brent. I went to the high school hockey game - it was great. I love hockey!!!! I think Jake got a hat trick!

Suspension
When I got home the school had left a message to phone the vice principal. Brent had phoned a couple of times but I waited till Brent came home before I returned the call. He got a 3 day suspension, the principal said that they could have expelled him or even taken away his computer privileges. Somehow Brad got on the good side of the Principal because the teacher went berserk about it wanted him expelled finally settled for said 3 days. The vice principal took Brad aside and told him that the 3 day started this morning so it is really only 2 days.

I told them that Brent was not dangerous, that he has had that capability for many years of sabotaging their computers but everything he has done has been harmless and they usually appreciate him fixing the computers. It often takes them days to have someone come in to look at the computers while Brent can do it on the spot. I told them how bored he was with school, that the only thing that has interested him was the Cisco Networking course. Any computer course offered at his regular high school, he already knew and bored him. I think that is why the problem was made into such a big deal.

The office is taking it lightly but the Berserk teacher is trying his hardest to make something more out of it. Brent always fixes their computers. He did write something cutesy about the teacher on the computer that only one kid saw, something about the kid liking the teacher but there was no profanity, no implications of any homosexual references, just that the kid liked the teacher. The teacher doesn't like that Brent is breezing through his class with little effort, even accused him of plagiarizing his web page because it was too good.

I am still very irritated about what happened between the teacher and April. I decided to try and get a hopefully unbiased view of what happened. I phoned some parents of kids in the class that April doesn't socialize with and asked them if they would get their son's point of view on what took place at the trip to the high school. I said that if the kid felt April was in the wrong to please tell me, whether it was good or bad, I needed to know. They phoned back a while later and told me that April didn't do anything out of the ordinary. The kid told their parents that the teacher doesn't know where the line is at trying to be the kids' friend to being their teacher. He said that the teacher lost her temper and took out all her anger on April and April didn't deserve any of it. I picked the brainier kids, so I think I got a good idea of what went on there that day.

Feb 7/02

I feel pretty sick with cold, Monica is getting sicker too.

Brent told me that Jerome ratted on him for being in the school computer system. Nice guy eh? He doesn't think he will get in too much trouble because they use him every day to fix the broken computers, but I am worried. I didn't tell James when he phoned, I didn't want to worry him on his trip when he really can't do much about the problem.

April had a Basketball game and they were not too good. Parents are talking about how the coach treated April at the high school. It is too bad that she is the teacher and the coach. The parents all say that the teacher, not April, was out of line and out of control. This is the kids, telling their parents, not me asking. I am not impressed with the teacher at all.

Stacy went to Jamie's and had an intermission in-between to go to work for 45 min so I drove her there and back. She looked so happy. I just had to ask her if her and Jessie had another licking fight- she just game me the look, you know the one when I had guessed what she is doing and she laughed that yes, they had one tonight. Honest I fell like I can read her mind sometimes- it is even scary.

James went on his trip today to Key West. He is staying at an airport hotel tonight and leaving for Miami at 5:30 in the morning.

I was asked at Basketball if Monica was interested in playing rep soccer tonight!

Hi mom!

how did you do that?

I got a program called lanschool that lets me monitor other computers so I can fix them from whatever computer I am at.

You scared me!!

Sorry.

Now I can monitor other computers too!

I was writing this and all of a sudden someone started to write in my diary.
It was Brent. He is learning a program at school that lets you monitor and fix any computer from his computer. It was scary at first- an invasion of privacy, but maybe it is what will help me with April and the email's she has been sending.

Feb 5/02

April had to go to High School today for a rehearsal for a music concert. I went to take pictures but it took so long that I had to leave so I cold take Brent and Monica to the doctor for flu shots. The doctor said he couldn't give Monica the flu shot because she has the flu right now - too bad because she bugged me to get it since November. Brent had something burned off his hand with dry ice and it was bothering him so much that I let him stay home.

April went skating in the afternoon with the school.

I was at the Catholic High School for House League Basketball when I heard a parent talking about the rehearsal at The Public School High School in the morning. Her son had told her that a visiting grade 8 student was yelled at and put down. He told his mom that you can't expect them to want to take music in High School when something like that happens.

When I got home and talked to a dejected April I realized later that it was April he was talking about! The teacher, and I use the term loosely, was kidding around with them at the High School and April said it went from fooling around to her being yelled at and put in a corner real fast. The teacher told April to put the miniature bat (about3 inches) away and April said she looked down at it "and I guess I was a little slow because Chantel took it out of my hands and put it in my pocket." April transferred the bat to her other pocket. the teacher started yelling at her and put her in the corner. She said April had to stay in the corner until she showed her some respect. April said that she could show her respect and that is when she belittled her even more and made her stay in the corner for at least 15 minutes.

I said that perhaps April should stay out of any closeness with the teacher because she is very abrupt and most people don't know when she is going to snap at them. I am so upset with the teacher that I can't talk to her about it yet. She didn't even mention anything about it when I was at the skating in the afternoon - even though she was talking to me.

Stacy went to Jamie's for supper and to a movie. I thought Stacy was bringing him back here but no. We would like to see more of him, but Stacy says that they hardly get to see each other and she hasn't seen his parent in a while so she wanted to go over there.

Feb 4/02

April and Monica are both sick but April insisted on going back in the afternoon. It is a far cry from when April used to fake being sick almost every day and I would sling her over my shoulder and deposit her on the doorstep of her classroom.

I took this opportunity to talk to Monica about people being different. Just because someone is different doesn't mean they can't understand what you are going through. Everyone has feelings that can be hurt in different ways. Events can happen in a different time in our lives, but that doesn't make our experiences better or worse, just different. I gave the example of how she reacted when she found out my period came when I was 16 and how she just dismissed me as not understanding how she would feel because she started so young and I hadn't. I explained to Monica how she should try to understand about how I felt not having my period when everyone else was. I was ridiculed about not being a woman yet and that maybe I was a guy. The girls would talk about their problems and said that I wouldn't know what they were talking about. It was on my mind all the time. I didn't feel feminine. I think that any problem involving when a period comes I would understand.

So before she decides how a person can sympathize, she shouldn't make hasty judgments. I said that this applies to understanding anyone for any reasons in life. Everyone has feelings and just because you think your circumstances are worse, don't pass off someone's ability to understand and sympathize. Learn to appreciate everyone's qualities. Monica gave me a nice hug and we enjoyed each other's company for the rest of the day.

I took Stacy to her rep practice and they said that they wanted her. I told her that they are interested in her but I didn't say for sure. I want it to be her decision totally. I hope it is not too much for her. They are concentrating so much on her pitching that she is not getting the full workout and practice that the other girls are. It is kind of scary to me that they want her at this level when she has only been house league pitcher and select once. They did ask her in Niagara Falls. Another team, and we said no but this is happening so fast. She hasn't learned pitching on the same level has the other girls who hold that spot and I just hope she has matured defensively, like when the ball comes back like a bullet will her catching be quick enough to protect her face? I sure hope so.

Brent and Crystal didn't come home last night stayed at the Doobie Brothers and Crystal missed work. I hope she doesn't lose her job because she has had it for 2 years.

Stacy ended up seeing Jessie tonight. I thought that they wouldn't be seeing each other all this weekend but I guess I must have misunderstood. She went with him to Paul's house. Stacy told me as I was dropping her off that Melissa is talking the pill on the wrong dates. God I hope she doesn't get herself in trouble! But I was happy Stacy tried to talk to her about birth control. It is better to try and help before there is any complications rather than after. She also told me that her and Jessie are still waiting (as she exited the car) after 8 months. Wow, she told me before that he isn't pressuring her at all for sex and if they still haven't and everything is fine between them, then he must care enough that he is giving her a lot of space to make that important decision.

We had an impromptu Super Bowl party and we had so much fun. Brent, Crystal, Stacy, Nadia, and I had some Smirnoff's Ice. April and Monica were there for a while too. I think at first it was there way of getting a way to eat the cherries because we implemented a new rule in our house. You can't eat a cherry unless it is on ice cream or in a drink. They still managed to eat them all- maybe because they had about 3 cherries each in their drinks. Stacy was "Shakin her Booty"

Caesar was extremely attracted to Crystal after he saw Brent and Crystal wrestle. We tried to keep him away from her but he managed to deak and jump over everyone to get to her so we had to put him outside to cool off!

Sat. Feb 2/02

So nice, we were talking last night about Monica waking people up abruptly so what does Nadia do? She comes in our room and starts complaining about a Brent's party going on downstairs, how loud it is and how it woke her and Stacy up. Well thanks for waking me up Nadia. Then very late the pizza guy arrived but the party couldn't hear them so I had to get the door!

Monica's soccer game was very entertaining, today only 7 kids showed but they were the ones that could run and we won. Everyone had to play forward and Monica scored!

Monica spent about 3 hours trying to use a tampon. She is one determined girl! I bought every tampon brand I could. I bought every kind of extra thin pads I could, so hopefully she will find something she likes. Right now it seems like her periods are only 21 days apart- we will have to keep track. I guess mine was so late because of Monica, but it was kind of funny going through the math of how old everyone would be if I had of been preggers. How old would each of my children be at different points in there lives if I had a baby now? Think of it, when this baby is 20 Nadia would be 40!

Monica and Holly were the only girls(again) at Cory's party at Bowling.

April is having a party downstairs. We have such at party house! I love having people over, I don't care how old they are!!

Nadia went out with Brie for eats and Brent and Crystal went to the Doobie Brothers for a party.

I kept April home from school because she is sick and the weather is still so bad, but boy did she fight it - a lot different from the little girl who never wanted to go to school - ever.

Punk or punk?
James and I took Marita out for breakfast; she is still really upset about Josh B. The little slime ball thrives on negative attention. He is such an opportunists and not catching him means he has just taught himself more on how to manipulate. He told his parents that Josh and his punk friends intimidate him. To tell you the truth someone like Josh B. who is all nice to parents and then backstabs everyone scares me more than a kid who dresses different. Josh B acts like a punk to me, Clint Eastwood style.

I never thought of them as punk or Goth or anything but kids having fun expressing themselves through their clothing style. Just a few of them dress that way, the rest dress like any kid. Do other people look at them and automatically think Columbine? Does a trench coat automatically make a person antisocial or angry with everyone who doesn't dress like them? That was Mel's way of thinking and the reason my kids didn't want anything to do with them, - but I just assumed that Mel was not a normal punk kid- just a very emotionally mixed up kid hiding behind her Marilyn Manson makeup.

Brent and Adam came home for lunch. I wonder if this will be a regular occurrence- I enjoyed having them. We took Nadia out for Greek food and April and Monica went to the dance. Eric took Monica and he was standing in our hall with most of our family and Steven's family. He looked at me and said, "I feel very little" It was cute.

Thursday Jan. 31/02

What a strange sensation this is. I am sitting here all by myself this morning, the high school kids snagged their own rides for the first day of the new semester! It is quite a change from last semester where I had to drive Stacy to Co-op at 8:30 to 9:00, wake Brent up between 9:30 and 10, drive him to high school before 10:30, pick Stacy up from Co-op at 11:30, feed her and take her to school around 12 noon. I never had any chance socialize on my own because of all the driving. I am going to miss Stacy being home for lunch though. She really lit my day up for me, it was all worth it!

The sky is falling! Trillions of snowflakes are rapidly descending upon us, sticking to each other in huge clumps. Beautiful-it's about time we gone some snow, bring it on!!!!

At lunchtime I offered Josh B a ride back to school but April looked at me so anxiously that I knew something was wrong. April and Josh B have had big problems over the years so I was trying to be extra nice to Josh. I thought that maybe if I pay him special attention it would help their relationship. Instead I have made things worse. You see when I paid Josh attention I happened to notice that he was carrying a baseball bat, in the middle of a winter snow storm and I asked why. I can't believe I had to drag the information out of April but she is so afraid that he will blame her for telling on him since he knows I saw him with it. He thought that Josh Kegs was starting co-op there today and told everyone in grade 8 that he was going to bash his head in. Marita was livid when she realized that Josh B. did not get suspended. They could not prove that he intended on using the bat as a weapon. What else can you do with a bat in the middle of a snowstorm?

I had to trek Nadia from College, which took an hour for the round trip. Derrick didn't go to school due to the snowstorm. There was a huge transport stuck that took 20 minutes to move out of the intersection.

All evening activities were cancelled so we just all snuggled inside by the fire.
