Peaces Of Me++++
++++ The miles just keep rollin as the people leave there way to say hello I've heard this life is overrated but I hope that it gets better as we go |
Sept 29/00 James called Business Deposit, where the lap top was originally purchased and they agreed to go through their bills to find the proof of purchase for the lap top. They actually found it! April says she won't even try to walk home from school with Lauren anymore. They were together with a bunch of other girls and of the girls parents drove up and the one girl yelled for the kids to get a ride and then said, "Not you April!" Poor April, she was so hurt. It is like this new school, as soon as it was a concept, has put a line down an imaginary boarder and now they can't play with each other if they don't live on the right side of the road. We took Brent and his friends to an out of town party. For some reason Doober's girlfriend got mad at him and wouldn't get into our car, took a ride with Dan's dad. Stacy went with Brent, I was happy about that because she needs to socialize but Brent didn't like the attention she was getting. Jay from Rep football was there and showed an interest in Stacy and I know without Brent saying anything that it would really bother him because Brent teased Jay about another girl earlier in the summer about using a condom. Enough said. On the way to picking them up we passed a guy that looked like Doober around halfway home (yellow shorts at this time of year would make anyone recognize him) and it turned out to be him. He had another fight with Nicole at the party so he walked home. They seem to fight a lot. We dropped them off at Adam's house and Brent returned home with Stacy. He said he didn't want her there because they were drinking but I said that we couldn't shelter her anymore that maybe she needed to see stuff like that. He just stared at me and said, "Yes your right but not this time because they are drinking Tequila." O K he's right. I thanked him for trying. Apparently Brandon Alexio said that he wanted to have a threesome with Stacy and his girlfriend. This must be getting a little too much for Brent. Brent said that Adam got a huge nosebleed when he was drinking the Tequila- gross. Annie at 9/30/2000 03:22:00 a.m. We had to retrieve information on a hard drive that was wrecked. Brent was using our lap top computer at school for a group project and all of a sudden it went dead. The entire group project was on it so the teacher gave them till the end of the day to get the information. I took it to Repair Store and they said that they had to talk to Brent so I took him out of an assembly. We had to buy special apparatus, they spoke some weird lingo to Brent and all of a sudden he knew what to do. You should hear Brent and his friend talk about computer problems: it's like a different language. James is going to try to get the Toshiba laptop fixed under warranty. We had a three year warranty on it up next month. Got Stacy's glamour shot pictures back today. She only likes one, they are good but I wish we had brought her own clothes since they hung off her. I did complain about the poor selection of clothes. Trying to keep Monica from exercising too much but I can't keep up with her. Monica runs with the her clubs practice and then when I take Stacy to run with her club they want Monica to run there too. Monica encourages the other kids to run up hills and so they love her. I was talking to Carol Alexio and she was telling me that our boys had a party or get together at her house when she wasn't there and one of them got stinking drunk, so drunk that the kids didn't know what to do with him so they put him in the Pool Shack and locked him in. They kind of forgot about him but the person ended up crawling out of the skylight. She was upset about it because she said, "what if the kid had gotten out and fallen into the pool, no one would have known." I don't want any parties at my house when I am not there. I think I could handle it if I was there but I don't know if that would work either. Who knows? I figured out that it is either Adam or Brent that was so drunk that night. If Brent isn't going to mention it then either am I. I figure he will tell me one day, he usually tells me a lot about his life and I appreciate it. Annie at 9/29/2000 04:21:00 a.m. We have been timing ourselves at the rec for swimming and already there is an vast improvement in all our times. We are all getting stronger except April who is fighting it tooth and nail! The Nutritionalist gave Stacy a meal schedule to maintain her weight. Stacy's body fat content is 11%, Ideal fitness is 16 to 25% for a female. An athlete usually falls in the range of 12 to 22% whereas a guy would be 5 to 13%. I hope she follows it because it is all up to her. I hate when I notice shorts under her pants because I know that she has lost weight again. A girl in class asked Stacy in front of everybody how she can have such a good body. She thinks that it will be too much for her to eat but she needs to keep her weight up. She misses Jessie so much. Cory's son Brad was at the Cross country practice and it was kind of cute. Stacy was taking the younger kids on a run and everywhere that Stacy ran his son Brad would follow (he is not a cross country runner anymore, quit a couple of years ago.) In the distance, on top of a hill you could see Stacy and Brad running, he was trying to keep up with her and she would step up the pace until there was a huge gap between them and the kids they were supposed to be training. His mom noticed him running but it never occurred to her that he might be chasing after my daughter. "I wonder why he is running so much?" she asked. Other parents looked up, saw him running after Stacy and winked at me! He is the same age as Stacy. Nadia went out to dinner with Louise. Nadia is working on getting a coop at the hockey news. She has got some contacts the other people she has interviewed for school too. Louise said that they could put in a good word for her too. We went to Mark and Carrie's, they are talking about going to Nova Scotia for the holidays but it sounds like they want it separate from us. That’s all right because the age difference in our kids is quite a big gap in this stage of our kids lives there kids are too little for our kids right now and Natasha got upset when Monica and Michael wanted to play together instead of Monica and Natasha. There wasn't the interaction that there always has been this year and I don't know how many of my kids will actually be able to come next summer. It was a great six years of traveling with them though! Annie at 9/28/2000 03:49:00 a.m.
Nadia has been on a marathon homework run and has been pretty well up for the past couple of days working on various assignments. She had a crisis where she ran out of ink and you know that usually happens the night before an assignment is due. Well her class was an 8am class so we couldn’t even go to Business depot. She is handling the computer problems better these days. Monica started her soccer. They switched her to a different team-lime green and she is number 16 after Jessie even though it floats on her. We got some shin pads from the neighbours. Monica got called once for the ball touching her arm but she did pretty good considering she’s never played before. There is this guy, Brett and he talks to Stacy a lot in person, that she sort of likes, but her friend likes him so she won’t go out with him. Annie at 9/28/2000 12:05:00 a.m. The parents, went to The high school today to protest with the students who got suspended. I got interviewed outside and Nadia came out for a minute to get lunch money and looked so embarrassed for me to be there. The kids had to stay off school property so they were across the street, but the parents went into the school. The Principal said that the suspensions would be lifted if the kids had a note, so almost everyone started to write a note and then she changed her mind. She really looked uncomfortable with the media being there. It is all pretty useless though. I saw Jessie in the hall today and he was be swarmed by the girls, oh yeah they were all over him. They are treating the footballs players like they were gods. I guess this hero worship is amplified by the fact that there hasn't been any sports here in 2 years and since they isn't any other extra curricular activates all the focus is on the only game in town. There was a pep rally at the school today, for football. Nadia got caught up in the high school spirit, (more like peer pressure) and they put a big purple H on her face. She washed it off but it left a red stain on her. I wonder how long it will stay there? Team spirit! Nadia thinks that Derrick got a touch down. He is Number 89, and plays tight end. I think that is defence. Monica had a chiropractor apt this morning. Stacy rabbitted at another school cross country. They gave her Candy for helping. Monica is running strong ahead of Holly. Annie at 9/27/2000 03:18:00 a.m. This swimming is so hard, so cold in the mornings. April is dragging her.... but I want her there. She is a feisty one! Brent got suspended because of the student walk out. They phoned and I wasn't going to answer it because it said The high school on call display I asked if they were going to suspend the kids who skipped the afternoon and not involved in the walk out and they said they weren't going to It seems stupid that the kids who make a statement get suspended but the ones who skipped after, the ones who took advantage of the situation get away with it. I went to the board office with maybe a couple hundred other parents and kids. I was glad to hear that there was no talk about Stacy and her relationship with Jessie at school today. I always thought of him as a class guy and these next couple of weeks will tell. Guys like to brag about the girls they went out with but I have never heard anyone talk about what Jessie and Stacy have done or haven't done so I really don't think he will be like that. Honestly, I don't think that Jessie has to brag, he seems so popular with the girls right now that everyone will automatically assume that he was successful in his 'endeavours' with my daughter. I hope that he doesn't do the talking. Just the fact that he phoned her on the weekend after they broke up to see how she was shows that I was right, he is a decent person. He told her that he would take her out if she wanted to so that is good, I hope they remain friends because she liked him so much. Anyway, Stacy went to the nutritionalist for her weight check. She turned out to be 'The perfect athlete female body'. WOW. She has 11% body fat and for a middle distance runner that is great. She just has to maintain it, as she so often loses too much weight in her running seasons. I hate watching this happen to April and Lauren. Lauren is in the middle of girls trying to be her friend. One girl is pushing April out of the group but I know it is so that she can have Lauren all to herself because when April is not hanging around with them she does it to other girls too. Lauren's parent s don't like her at all and the grandmother is devastated that Lauren is not hanging around with April because they have been inseperatable since kindergarten. April says it is useless to try to fight for her friendship because Lauren will be going to the new school so the other girl has already won. The hard part of this is that Lauren's parents and grandmother have been like relatives to April and this is really hurting April and she misses them. Most of us are sick now, I guess Brent did have a cold, the only one not sick is Nadia. Annie at 9/26/2000 03:34:00 a.m. Cross country rep. There was a problem with Stacy running rabbit for the mites. One of the coach's thought it would be a good warm up for Stacy, the other a bad idea. Unfortunately there was a lot of mud and Stacy was the first one through so she was going down past her ankles and it hurt her knee so much so that it swelled up and she couldn't run her own race. She was so disappointed. Monica is doing very well, a nice surprise considering I was trying to pull her out this year. Annie at 9/25/2000 03:43:00 a.m. Took the family to a restaurant for Breakfast. We were all talking about the student walkout and the people at the next table were trying to listen to us. I finally recognized the principal of another school. He said that they would suspend every kid who walked out. That is a bit extreme if you ask me. Jessie phoned Stacy today and they talked on the phone better than they had for most of the time they went out. He said that he couldn't sleep because of the break up. I am glad she went out with him, it is the first time she has tried to maintain a relationship and she never ran away from it. I like him and he was good for her for quite a while. I'm glad she had such a nice real first boyfriend. Too bad they didn't meet each other when they were older. They might have had better chances because they did look so good together. Annie at 9/24/2000 03:15:00 a.m. Brent took part in a Student walkout today. Now I wish he had of stayed home again, but I made him go. Hundreds of students walked out and went to the Board office. Stacy's class got locked in her room. Nadia couldn't participate because she is OAC but she was letting kids in and out through the cafeteria doors when the school was trying to lock them down. I got new glasses today, they are a special type of bifocals and it is so hard getting used to them. They feel like they are distorting everything and I have to move my head to look directly at everything. I don't know if I will get use to it. Today Stacy and Jessie broke up. She is very upset but I could see it coming for a couple of weeks. Before she left to see Jessie, I even suggested that since he was making her unhappy and questioning herself, maybe she should break off with him and I thought that she even might do that. Personally, that is what I think that he was trying to do to make it easier on him. He was being critical, saying little mean things to her for a while telling her she smelled like bad because she had chlorine on her, inviting another girl to the football games but not asking her to see them at all, etc. She really likes him a lot but lately he has been very confusing. I picked her up from his house, he had invited her over for a movie and then abruptly I got the call to come and bring her home, her voice sounded strained. They said there goodbyes face to face in his driveway and then she turned to me and she looked so helpless I knew they had broken up. She had a good cry, and I thought that I should try and calm her down so I gave her a gravol. I was staying with her because she seemed to need me and as she undressed for bed, she tossed off her first layer of clothing to reveal a sexy little orange summer top. She gazed at her reflection in her mirror and then laughed uncontrollably at herself at how ironic it was that she had actually chose this night to wear something sexy for him but they hadn't even managed to get to that stage because he had called it quits. If he only knew that this was the night she had picked to advance their romance. I stroked her head until she finally went to sleep. Jessie tried to be gallant about it by saying that he needed time for himself to study and train in soccer because he was taking a serious attempt for a scholarship. Even if they didn't intend on breaking up the rumours around and to Stacy were enough that they probably would have broken them up. Rumours can ruin any relationship and make the good ones rocky and she has faced many of them these last couple of weeks alone. She knew it was coming though because she had Amy over the other day (which hardly ever happens anymore) and she told her that she felt that they were close to breaking up. It just wasn't the same anymore. Oh well, what can you do? Annie at 9/23/2000 04:14:00 a.m. Football Brent got back into football, paid his money for the jersey and just before practice went back to the coach and told him he had to quit because he was just too sick. I picked him up on the road after school and he looked white as a ghost. I sure hope he gets better soon. This cold is lasting too long and it scares me because no one else in the family has it. I still think it might be an infection from the root canal. Brent is feeling down though, like he failed and he assured me that he would try fro the football team again next year. I am not trying to extract a promise, he doesn't owe me any explanation but maybe I did look too happy about him being on a school team. Could be that I wanted it too much for him, but I hate thinking that he was trying to please me. He stays in so much by himself on his computers that I need to see him with other people just to know that he is doing well socially. So was he doing it only for me or was I just his biggest fan? I felt so much for those guys in football, I couldn't even watch their practices- when they kept making them run up and down the hill with their teammates on their back. And when I knew that Brent was having trouble breathing in the first place with his cold it made me sick. They never made them run hills with people on their back at the Rep football- their poor knees. Annie at 9/22/2000 03:56:00 a.m. Apparently, the football coach the coach said that Brent is off the team for not being at practice today, but we do have a doctors note because he has been that sick. His teachers are saying he is too sick to be in school so he is home. Poor guy. The only reason he has gone to school some of this week is because of football. Stacy and Jessie have been going out for 4 months now. I am glad that they stopped buying presents for each monthly anniversary because it was getting expensive and putting pressure to make each date a big deal. Jessie is really confusing her though. The attention he is getting from football is incredible, there are girls hanging all over the field waiting for their chance to grab some action. I hope this doesn't go to his head but I am afraid it might have already. Nadia baby sat James and Erin Make it right Again, in the Kegs's garage, with a number of couples the conversation turns to sex and who needs it and how bad it is... Are they serious or trying to be funny? I don't know but it sounds so pathetic, why would you be in a relationship if it is that bad? James and I never contribute to the conversation, we just look at each other and speculate how all those couples got into that rut. We don't keep score or keep track, it is not always James wanting it, I need him too, it is a mutual feeling. James has said before that the guys talk, wonder what we are doing, because James never complains. You know it astounds me how poorly wives talk about the guys and how sex fits or rather doesn't fit into their lives. There constant complaining about what is suppose to be a natural instinct keeps me in awe every time I am supposed to be part of the conversation. I don't say anything because I don't agree, I don't see there point and if they don't like it, if it is monotonous, it takes two to change it, alter, adjust, do something different, somehow make it new again. That is the one thing I have always thought about James, it always feels new and different, it is what you make out of making out. hehe. Annie at 9/21/2000 03:11:00 a.m. I guess I was wrong about Stacy and Jessie. He gave her a Teddy bear and bracelet for her birthday so I guess he must still want to go out with her. People are hard to figure out. Took Stacy to Glamour Shots Brent is still sick. When he gets a cold it really does him in. I think he gets run down from not sleeping and eating properly. Adding to that the football practices and he is toast. He missed one yesterday because he was just too sick. When Brent got back to practice, he was right out of the loop. He didn't know any of the defensive plays. He was also spitting up blood, that is scary. Kids are so much in their own little world. Nadia complained to me that Brent is slacking off in football not going all the time. I don't even think she realizes that not only is he sick, he has us very concerned. April is all of a sudden hanging around with the little grade 6's and I think that it is to get closer to Braden. Or maybe it is because other girls are trying to be Lauren's friend and pushing April away from Lauren. Invisible I must have my cloaking device on, I am invisible. They talk around me and through me. I sit out in the school parking lot watching everyone go by and the kids lean on my car and talk, talk, talk. Even in my car I hear whatever is going on. They don't seem to care that I can hear them. Sometimes what they are saying raises my eyebrows, but I wait until we are at home to ask about it. I don't think my parents were privy to this type of information. The kids seem to feel comfortable talking in front of me (or maybe they forget I am here?). Why is that? My kids have always told me everything that is going on and very often it is the conversation opener to how they value my opinion. If it is not too dangerous or I can see that they are talking their own way out of predicaments I say very little. At one time we had a pact at school. If you get in any kind of trouble and you can tell me about it before the school does, you will not get in trouble at home. If I find out by the school or other parents, then we have a problem. I had so many kids in the same school that there ws a race to tell me before someone else did. That made my life a lot easier and very informative. They never got out of the habit of telling me about there life. If there was little conversation around the table we would play "Tell me something happy sad, mad or glad" and they always joined in. Maybe I am not invisible, maybe they need me there and enjoy that I am in their lives. Annie at 9/20/2000 04:08:00 a.m. Pillow fight April was pretty wild last night. Somehow she has accumulated 27 pillows and is hoarding them on her bed. It is so ridiculous it is funny. Lately when I come to check on her I have to remove many so April won't hurt her neck. There is no way April is even laying on her mattress, there is so many. She is basically in a sitting position for sleeping. I told her I wanted some off and she wouldn't even let me have one so it was a stand off. This is one battle I know I have to engage in because it is crazy to even have that many for the whole family. April somehow got in the camper and brought in all our camping pillows plus the extra off of each of our beds. I told her that she had to give me 10 and it was as if each one of them had a personality. She cried her heart out every time I got one from her. I wrestled 9 off of her and I was too exhausted to get the last one. April cried herself to sleep. Was I ever hurting when I hit the sack and I couldn't look at another pillow so I didn't even sleep with mine! This morning I washed a lot of them and if they happened to explode in the washing machine, oh well. (She did end up checking the garbage to see if I told her the truth.) April has 17 on her bed now so I will gradually get them away from her. Brent is so sick and no one else is in the family so I am thinking that it is an infection, he is taking medicine but I worry. He is away from school today and he wants to play football so much. That is the only reason Brent has been trying to go to school. I am learning how to manipulate pictures with the computers. I have Monica's team in a glove! Annie at 9/19/2000 03:06:00 a.m. Nadia basically mopped around the house all weekend because all her friends were away. She is talking about Derrick all the time lately but they haven't gone anywhere together that I know of. She said that she gets red faced when she even sees Derrick so he must know that Nadia likes him. Went to Grammie's for dinner. We insist that it be ordered and usually we bring it but this time she wanted to do it. Grammie gets too tense when she tries to cook for us and it usually isn't a pleasant experience so it is better that the food is take out or delivery. I couldn't believe how she talked to the Chinese's Food Takeout places. She talked like they were partially deaf and spoke so slowly like they were stupid. The first place hung up on her. The next place she did the same thing but argued with them about giving her credit card over the phone like they were going to rip her off. The next place she started it again until I said, "Mom, do you what them to spit in our food?" I wish she wouldn't do things like that, she wonders why people are rude to her on the phone. Annie at 9/18/2000 03:04:00 a.m. Monica and Stacy ran in Barrie today Monica is running very strong. She came in 12th at 7:36. Stacy was 9th at 20:30 but looked very tired, it is a big change from the shorter distances she ran last year. She has to run in the Opens now, she is too old for the organized races for the younger kids. She is really hoping that they will have some type of cross country at school but the teachers still say no sports for the schools. They have football but apparently the teachers get a lot of slack if they promote any extra curricular activities. I have phoned my MP but she doesn't return the calls. Brent has a bad cold but at the same time I have to watch to make sure it is not an infection from the root canal. He is dragging his ass but he is so full of cold that he is not achieving much! Annie at 9/17/2000 03:03:00 a.m. Photo day at The high school. We have started to swim 5 mornings a week for Stacy's sports program. It is so hard to get up at 6.am! April promised me that she would be my morning person for ever and would never be like teenagers who can't get up in the morning. Well... you should see my little April try not to wake up for swimming...common April keep that promise... rise and shine baby!!!! Mixed signals Stacy is talking a lot about Jessie while swimming, she seems really confused, he is sending her mixed messages. I think Jessie has 'jock of the school' status and that is putting pressure on Stacy to 'put out'. We talk about sex and she really gets tense, like she has been lately when I drive her to his house. She seems like a scarred rabbit right now. I am talking to her about sex a lot now, she has to have knowledge in order to decide if that is what she wants or to realize exactly what Jessie expects from her. The more knowledge I give to her the higher her anxiety level, I know she is nowhere near ready for this relationship. Fourteen is too young. I feel bad telling her about the different things that sex involves, not so that she can be skilled, but so that whatever she decides it is with her eyes wide open. I want everything to be her choice, not the boys. I want her to have the choices that were taken away from me. I guess my past is influencing how I handle things as it does for every parent. The most important factor to me is that it be her choice completely, when she is ready. For that she has to be totally informed about human relations and she will be. Judging by her apprehension level when I take her to his house lately, something she can't handle is in progress. I wish she had gradually had a knowledge of sex, that is my fault. I promised myself that she would have more of a sex education than I did but she did exactly what I did growing up, she wouldn't listen and avoided any talk of sex to the point of picking her elementary school friends t o be the sucks of the school. Even the prime time TV shows, she has avoided. I told her if she wouldn't let me tell her about sex then she couldn't watch night time TV and so she didn't watch. That wasn't my intention. In the last couple of months since I have been talking to her about it, she has been watching the night time shows and she is really enjoying them, like she now gets what all the canned laughter is about. The more information I give her, the more I know she won't be part of it, it is too new and it is scaring her, but she needs to know. Because of all this I recognize that she is very strong willed and he won't do what she doesn't want to do. She just has to know what it is she doesn't want to do! Kyle got wind of Stacy planning to hit him in the cafe and stopped the teasing. In the meantime I told Stacy to defend herself but I don't think she will, she is so scarred that people, especially Jessie will believe him. Ewww, they had to practice football in the rain today. We drove Jessie home when we picked Brent up and you could hear the gush of there wet clothes, must be so uncomfortable in the rain. It was weird having Jessie in the car without his girlfriend. Nadia came to see Derrick. Annie at 9/16/2000 04:23:00 a.m. Nadia wants to come pick up Brent from football all the time now. She is trying to point out Derrick to us, but behind all that football gear it is hard to say what he looks like he just looks tall. He has a black eye now, he got hit with a pitch at baseball. That must of hurt like hell- those pitches come in pretty fast at that age group. Apparently his eye is blood red. Nadia went to a preseason hockey game Toronto vs. the Oilers. The tickets were in Pickering today in rush hour traffic. Nadia went with Josh. This is only the second game Nadia has ever been to. Marita asked me if we knew of anyone who would want to see the game and I yelled "Nadia" before anyone had the chance. I said "Josh and Nadia can go!" They have been friends all along. Many times Josh has called on Brent only to end up hanging with Nadia. They had a good time and Nadia came home with a great Hockey mug and Josh a sweater. Annie at 9/15/2000 02:59:00 a.m. James and Monica joined us for our early morning swim! James liked it so much that he thinks the whole family should join us. I am not holding my breath for Nadia and Brent even though they both said maybe sometime. I might be able to make April come, we will see. I was bothered my Jessie's reaction to Stacy today. We were waiting to pick Brent up from football when Stacy spotted Jessie and she jumped out of the van to say hi. I was surprised at how irritated Jessie looked when he realized that Stacy had shown up at the practice. "Your not supposed to be here. I didn't know you would be here," he complained loudly in a way that you knew how annoyed he was. Stacy didn't know what to do so she quickly got back in the van. He had the same reaction earlier in the summer when we went to pick Brent up from football and Jessie was about to play a soccer game in the next field. The thing is, she can be where she needs to be and she was with me both times and she wasn't in his space, it was a coincidence. And even if she was there to watch him, she is allowed. Is that what people mean by him wanting to control situations? Stacy tried out for the Rep volleyball with 74 other girls. After the first practice when she saw all the 5foot 10 inch girls she turned to me and said, "I'm not going to make it, am I mom?" I said "No, your not." It would have been nice because she could have used some of the practice time against what she had to do for the sports program at school. One girl came up and started to talk to the coach about baby sitting the coach's kids and then joked about being a shoe in for making the team because she was so close to the coach. Not something you should joke about. People can and will believe it. Annie at 9/14/2000 03:22:00 a.m. We phoned our dentist and got in for an emergency appointment for Brent and he said it would cost about $700, a couple hundred better than the other dentist. Nadia and Stacy had to walk home; they couldn't find rides but they probably never asked anyone. I think this is the first time ever that they both had to walk home, life is tough eh? It is about a 40 minute walk, so it is time consuming. If they didn't have the heavy awkward backpacks I wouldn't think twice about them walking everyday but Nadia completely rejects that notion! Other years Nadia has rebelled and phoned me along the way pleading for rides. I honestly don't have a problem driving them, I like hearing about their days when it is fresh on their minds. I enjoy how giddy they are with there friends. April has copied some of the pictures that I took of Braden (I didn't know it was Braden, just a school student) and she is showing everyone at school. I keep telling her that she is making a mistake about this but she won't listen. I worry that her obsession with him borders on harassment. I have seen his mom glare at April and we tell her to leave him alone, she can't see the harm in it. The school kids are teasing him abut April liking him too so it could get out of hand, if it is not already. Annie at 9/13/2000 02:56:00 a.m. Stacy and I started swimming at the rec at 6:30 in the morning for her High Performance Athlete Program. It's so hard to get up at that time but she has to. We started her training by having her hold her breath while she swims a length under the water to build up her lung capacity. We talked about it as a family because Kyle just isn't stopping the harassment. He must think he has a license to bull shit. We decided that the best way to handle it is for Stacy to deck him in the cafe, in front of people. I don't care if she got suspended, it would be worth it. That would probably get to him the most. We have been told that he likes her, has for a long time but this is weird strategy or maybe he is just mad because she always ignores him and has rejected him in the past. Please someone make him go away! I got a phone call from Brent from school telling me to get him to a dentist right away. His tooth is broken. We went to a local Dentist and they said it would cost $900.00 or more to do root canal on it. Brent came back to school for football and the football coach couldn't believe Brent was at practice after root canal so he told Brent to leave. Annie at 9/12/2000 02:54:00 a.m. James went golfing again with the league. He doesn't seem to have much time for it anymore with all the baseball coaching he has done this summer. He has been in the league for about 23 years and the President for about the last 8 years April and Monica went to the Baseball Banquet. I was disappointed that April didn't get the most sportsmanship award. Some of the parents have mentioned how positive April is and how she yells out encouragement and how many out and where the play is. April might give the coaches a run for their money but she is always routing for her team! Later we dated at a cozy sports bar while we ordered KFC for the kids! James and I talked about the rep baseball for Monica and we really don't think it is an option right now. We are going to have lots of teenagers this summer and I can't imagine the parties we would have if we were not around. Besides it is kind of nice when Monica can play in 3 different divisions. She is in Mite for Select where she plays with girls her own age, Squirt where the girls are older but more equal to her abilities and Bantam as a call up, because she has a lot of baseball sense and they need her to pitch when there are injuries. Annie at 9/11/2000 02:22:00 a.m. A Baseball Rep coach phoned and asked if Monica could come to a try out. We said that Monica wouldn't be playing rep but they wanted to take a look at her anyway. We took her to the diamond and they put Monica side by side with the coach's daughter who everyone knows is a great pitcher (She got pitcher of the year this past season). Monica was pitching faster and more accurate and it was confusing to people watching because everyone knew about this pitcher Brie - they really shouldn't have put them beside each other because it was so easy to compare. When Monica went up to bat the coach got really excited and said that no one could hit off Brie and Monica hit almost everyone. He showed us the schedule and it looked way too time consuming. Victoria was there but she didn't seem to be putting any effort into it. The coach said that they would make a great one two punch if he had Monica and Brie. I don't think that we can. Annie at 9/10/2000 02:46:00 a.m. I was driving on the highway when a car drove by and a big rock shot up and I actually watched as the rock cracked my windshield. I was happy that I didn't panic. I took it to a glass place where I quickly locked my keys in the car so they had to drive me back home to pick up my spares. I felt so stupid. I spent most of the day working on the music video for Select Mites. It is hard to synchronize the music with the action in the pictures. April is so Braden crazy that she is scaring me. I told her that the more she tries to get near him the more he is going to try to get away from her but April thinks that he is the best looking guy in the world. To me he looks like a little shrimp and he is a year younger than her. A girl in the cafe told Stacy that Jessie has been seen a lot talking to one girl, Brent said not to worry because a guy was saying the same thing but he knows that the guy likes Stacy (Dan) and the girl likes Jessie (Dan's friend Carlie), so they are just trying to break them up. Annie at 9/09/2000 04:42:00 a.m. Kyle is being such an asshole but I guess that is just him. He is gossiping about my daughter, telling people Stacy likes this guy and that guy as if she is out to pounce on anything that moves. It is really bothering her. I told her to tell Jessie but she wants to handle it herself. She doesn't want to bother Jessie about it. I think she is wrong. Jessie was right, he told me in the summer but I had a hard time believing it because the teachers don't want to have any outside activities, but the high school is having a football team for sure, Brent is trying out for it. Monica and April's final playoff game was played under the lights against The Gruesome Twosome. Theri cousin is on that team so Grandma and Grandpa sat in the middle and tried not to take sides. Of course Monica pitched 2 beauty innings and Big Al played a real cleaver game with the pitching. Unfortunately because there is never 7 innings in normal games, we ran out of pitchers so Al kept alternating the spare pitcher and April. There were 2 out, bases loaded, bottom of the seventh inning when they brought April back to pitch, and because The Gruesome Twosome had my 2 girls for 2 years they figured that they knew April would break under pressure. They told the girls not to swing, betting that April could not get them across the plate. April said later that with all the yelling (there was about 200 people there!) she could only hear the convenors voice and she just new that she could do it. What an ending! I was so happy for April, that she could come through under all that pressure - way to go April! I am so proud of April because she has been in the shadow of Monica all season and for her to finish the game under those circumstances, it just must feel wonderful to her. I know I sure was overwhelmed for April. The two-timing guy from the movie stood off to the side near the field, never came anywhere near James and I. I feel sorry for his wife. It was a great season with Big Al. Annie at 9/08/2000 03:41:00 a.m. I am desperately trying to make the baseball video's but the computer isn't working right at all so Brent got a new motherboard for it. I got one video made for the Mites and Monica's team all got a look at it at the wrap up party but little things keep going wrong. I promised a copy to each team member. Golf Widow My plans for one on one time with my hubby never materialized. We couldn't have the run of the house on the first day of school because the kids aren't really in the stable part of school and might come home early so we planned this day for operation 'take back the house' where we try to mark as many spots as we can to reclaim what is rightfully ours. That sounds ghastly, make the PTA women gasp, well me too! But what I am talking about is that we are getting our spontaneity back crawling out of the blankets of the bed and all things nocturnal since the kids are all out of the house and accounted for. There is no way that Brent can come home like he used to in elementary school, they are 40 minutes away so...But...James went Golfing at Deer Creek with Dave Kegs. Poor James all that golfing he has to do - life's a bitch eh? At least Dave and him go real early in the morning so it doesn't interfere too much with family life and work. It bothers me when James goes golfing later in the morning because then he isn't working when people can see him work and I don't want our kids to get bad work habits because they see their dad golfing when he should be working., I know that James will work odd hours and he gets his work done but I want the kids to see it and not think you can make your own hours. Today was the first day of Rep Cross County. We are going to try and pay as we go because we are trying to get Monica out of running, so we don't want to go to all the meets. Monica is all heart but she isn't as talented in running as she would like and in the past she gets so frustrated with herself. I hate seeing a child down on themselves. I have offered to introduce her to other sports to take the place of running cross-country, maybe try Indoor Soccer. She loves to run so she will still be involved with running. Holly has reluctantly joined the running club. She has made it clear that she does not want to do it but her mom, Colleen, can't or won't see it. To me it is putting pressure on the girl's friendship because Monica loves to do this but Holly hates it. I can see Holly learning to resent Monica. Colleen will be all gung ho about going out for a run when Monica is over at Holly's house, Monica jumps at the chance and Holly ends up on a run when she really doesn't want to go. Luke doesn't look to keen on it either. They are only having practice one night a week. Stacy has volunteered to help the coach and he is happy to have her. We went to Mark and Carrie's for our weekly wine and snack. I like to drink the low calorie beer myself and I will leave the wine for them. We missed some socializing over the summer and now we have to plan our next year's trip! Hopefully Mark will get the Hot Tub going for some cold night fun! I really have missed our weekly romps. Not too many people can say there best friend is there brother so I consider myself lucky. All four of us compliment each other so we have enjoyed each other company so much that we resent any week that we re not together! Annie at 9/07/2000 02:37:00 a.m. First day of school The one day I'll be taking my teenagers to school all at the same time but they get off early- I guess so that the shock of going to school would be too much! It is my last year of having all three, Nadia, Brent and Stacy all in High School together. April is thrilled to have Mr. B., he is such a nice guy and her eyes light up just talking about him. I sure hope April has a good year, after having a teacher who didn't hand out much homework for two years, grade 7 might be a huge shock for April. It is an exciting time for Brent with the Football back at High School. Brent really was interested in playing Rugby, his gym coach has been bragging about what a player Brent is. They called him the Crazy Kid in gym, he is able to take the knees out expertly. But there is no Rugby so football is the next best thing for him to play - actually it is the only game in town! Annie at 9/06/2000 02:56:00 a.m. Close your eyes You can't see the walls in Stacy and Nadia room, Nadia has covered her side in hockey pictures and posters Stacy took down her Hockey stuff down months ago. Stacy wants them down so that we can finish the room. Only parts of the walls are painted grey, they rest still has to be scrapped of all the wallpaper. She also says it feels like she is changing her clothes in front of tons of guys and it is making her uncomfortable! I have grey paint, Nadia wanted the walls black but grey is as dark as I will get. Stacy has been busy scrubbing the last of the walls and then we can get them all done. Nadia went to Oshawa generals game with her Oshawa Gen buddy - Rachel, it is about the only time those two get along. Annie at 9/05/2000 02:33:00 a.m. We went to Don Cherry's for a summer gone school starts finale. This is April's favourite restaurant because it is so 'romantic.' It has Dad's Root Beer, bottled to look like beer and as April likes to think, the closest you can get to kids beer. April is going to be one hell of a party animal when she is older! Summer went by so quick! Annie at 9/04/2000 03:32:00 a.m. James went golfing with Dave, my brother, to Horseshoe Valley in Barrie. When James goes out with my brother, it is usually an all day thing because Dave doesn't like to go golfing too early in the day. It doesn't happen too often so I don't mind and I like seeing them spend time together. Besides, the older my kids get, the easier it is to be alone while he is enjoying himself. And I do need to see James in a relaxed state! Nadia went to the movie Whipped with Catrina. Annie at 9/03/2000 02:31:00 a.m. James and I went to see a movie and just as the movie started a couple tried to quietly take the chairs next to us in the dark. The guys looked like death warmed over, just stopped in his tracks when I said "Hi how ya doing?" He is a parent from April and Monica's Baseball team. He is with the beautiful young thing but unfortunately he wasn't with her in the movies, it was some other woman. He looked so uncomfortable and about 5 minutes after the movie started I saw him slither out. Not to smart taking another woman out in a small town. Duhhhh. Annie at 9/02/2000 04:27:00 a.m. James went to Wolf Run Golf tournament with Dave Kegs and bought a hockey picture for the basement for $350. A couple people have told me that a coach has been telling his team that Monica was responsible for breaking one of his player's hands. Monica didn't break it, the girl put her hand in the strike zone to try and bunt or something and the pitch hit her. She didn't get a base or anything because it was in the strike zone. I told the convenor that I didn't want Monica hearing any of that talk because as far as I am concerned, he is only doing it to make the team rally, a ploy to get his team focused. I know it would affect Monica's pitching because she is younger than the rest of her team mates. This is the same coach who gets his team to yell at pitchers, the annoying songs to try to break the concentration and he has been told not to do it. The convenor is going to talk to that coach- she didn't like it either. Annie at 9/01/2000 04:26:00 a.m.
